    After joining the UN 50 years ago this week, was an outspoken critic of testing. led to over 300 nuke tests across the Pacific. Colonial powers tried to stifle voices of opposition but a Nuclear Free & Independent Pacific became a rallying cry

    During the last 20 years, 7,348 major disaster events were recorded globally, claiming 1.23 million lives, affecting 4.2 billion people and causing $2.97 trillion. This is a sharp increase according to a new UN report.

    Our brigade sent strike teams away all summer, starting early - to QLD, Northern NSW, the Alps, Mallacoota. In Australia, we beat fires by working together across borders. But how do we keep going when fire seasons are 6 months long?

    The sad reality is: 'The more we burn, the more it burns'. Coal, oil & gas = climate change = more intense fire seasons.

    The 2019/20 fire season: 'We have never seen fire season start so early.' Rainforests, which shouldn't burn, were burning. 'Even in winter months we have been getting fires'.
