He is now worse off than he was as a judge at BomHC. Such decisions will only demoralise upright judges in the judiciary everywhere in India.

Its shocking that a judge like J. Kureshi, one of the sr. most in Guj and one who was lined up to head a big HC like MP should be sent to Tripura, a punishment posting with hardly any cases. (1/n)

There comes a time in the history of an institution when normal ways of handling crises are not effective, where decisive action by thinking out of the box becomes necessary. By speaking out, these four judges have saved the Supreme Court for now.

Sectarian violence, like terrorism, should not be seen only as a law and order problem. Hate speech, like a terror incident, may happen in a village but the conspiracy has to be uncovered nationally.

There have been numerous attempts by the executive to intimidate judges – through interception of calls, or transfers. The executive has been firing its big guns against lawyers who are going to become judges and anyone perceived independent is shot down.

If the govt entertains letters hinting that accused in criminal cases should be let off, it is tantamount to administrative interference. It is a very serious offence for a political party in power to seek to withdraw cases against its own politicians.

Cases take too long in India because the govt refuses to appoint more judges -- because the govt is hostile towards the judiciary. They don’t want an effective judiciary and the rule of law because judges catch the govt all the time for not doing its duty.

I applaud the four judges who decided to speak up. It has probably never happened in the history of the SC. Never in the history of the SC, except during emergency and Indira Gandhi's time, has there been such interference by the executive.

The killings appear to be killings in cold blood. Not a single F.I.R has been registered against the police & it is clear that this is an order from the highest person in the state.
