Spent a harrowing day in AMU on 17th. The police violence there surpasses Jamia, worse than what I have seen in any campus. Injuries and torture of students. 13k students forced to leave campus overnight. University administration has shamefully abandoned the students in its care

Anyone - Muslim, Hindu, Christian or atheist - who values the rule of law, democracy, freedom from group identity and the world their children will inherit should strongly back the protests against Narendra Modi's dark new citizenship law. It's not just India's soul at stake.

In this frame you can see the Bhagwat Geeta, a Christmas Tree and a frame that says Ya Ali Madat. Proud to say that’s my house and my dear husband reading out the preamble of the Constitution of India. My home ... My India. Any religion not seen in the frame is also welcome 🙏

While reporting yday, found that CCTV cameras inside Jamia library totally smashed. Leaves me to wonder: who smashed the ‘evidence’ of what happened inside the library? Have law enforcers turned law breakers? If those inside library were ‘anti social’ release the evidence, no?

In this dark hour listen to Hum Dekhenge recited by Faiz himself. It takes the pain away. And we oppressed Beneath our feet will have this earth shiver, shake and beat And heads of rulers will be struck With crackling lightening and thunder roars

I'm at Kalkaji Police Station right now. Kabir Ali Zia Choudhari, a lawyer who has been at the spot for at least 1.5 hours, is saying that lawyers are not being allowed in to interact with his student clients, at least 20 have been brought here, some with injuries.

"At the time of partition, Indian Muslims chose to stay in India. They are Indians by choice, unlike Hindus who are Indians by chance" at They chose not to be in a country defined by religion. Now, it's every other Indian's turn to stand for the nation.

Pl understand: CAA is inextricably linked to national NRC. Before CAA, both Ram & Rahim would have to prove their citizenship based on documents hard to get for anyone. After CAA, even if Ram has no documents he will get citizenship, but Rahim will not. Injustice due to Religion

This Bill is against the religious pluralism of India. I request all justice loving people to oppose the bill in a democratic manner. It runs against the very basic feature of the Constitution.

We are told that is bill to grant citizenship and not to take it from anyone. But the truth is together with , it could turn into a lethal combo in the hands of Government to systematically discriminate and even prosecute people based on religion.
