Two bodies were pulled from a collapsed grocery store in Padada town in Davao del Sur, and operations to retrieve four more people from the wreckage are ongoing. The quake, which registered a magnitude of 6.9, caused damage across the island of Mindanao. Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte and his daughter, who were at their house in the region when the tremor struck, were unhurt.
