November 10, 2019 — This session will look at ways for making WordPress events more eco-friendly. Are we making our WordCamps and local Meetups as environmentally sustainable as possible? What can we as organisers and participants do to ensure our events are planned and delivered with sustainability at the heart? The principles discussed will equally apply to your other networks and work events.

Our speaker Abha Thakor is the co-lead of a cross team project on sustainability within the WordPress community. In this talk, she will highlight findings from ongoing research with WordCamps and Meetup event organisers and learning from commercial events. She will show how you can contribute to the creation of a sustainability toolkit and be a eco-champion.

August 5, 2019 — Leveraging Your WordCamp Experience for Better Social Media Engagement

WordCamp is an empowering experience for the WordPress novice, expert and everyone in between, but processing all the information at the end of the conference can sometimes be overwhelming.

Using humor and lots of hands-on techniques, this talk will help you elevate your WordCamp experience to a new level! You’ll learn how to gather, sort and apply all the great information you’ve learned from the conference! Plus how to effectively apply all this great knowledge and information for better Social Media engagement.

March 11, 2019 — The combination of WordPress and WordCamps spreading throughout the world has created a global network of friendship. These relationships form bonds that are deeper than nationalism, and could someday advance World Peace.

This talk will use a case study of WordCamp Crazy, a group of Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi WordCampers who’ve formed a bond of friendship despite the fact that their countries have been at war. Their story of learning and compassion could change the world.

This talk will explore the reasons why one should attend WordCamp and how-to effectively apply WordCamp skills, knowledge and information for better Social Media engagement.

April 16, 2018 — The first WordCamp in Japan happend in 2008. Since then, Japan have had over 20 WordCamps. Japan is well known for the strong community base, including the creation of Wapuu. So, what is behind its strength? In Japan, people are having many kinds of events, not just usual events with sessions and Q&A. For example, photo shooting events, just come and work on anything events, Onsen events, WordPress set up for the first time events, and training camps etc. In this session, I will collect all the interesting examples from all over the country and will do a show-off. The ultimate purpose of this session is to encourage folks to be creative when planning and running events. While learning and sharing are the core factors of meetups, getting close to each other and having many ways of interactions is the key for fostering great communities.

October 16, 2017 — Sandro Gilando attended his WordCamp this past June at WordCamp Kent. Although well versed in SEO practices, Sandro was new to WordPress.He attended the 2 day WordCamp and sat through the WP 101 sessions which were presented by Melinda Helt of the Training Team.

September 5, 2017 — Emanuel Costa is the guy who wears many hats at High Tech Web, INC, the web agency he owns in Las Vegas.

We talk about his involvement in WordPress, the presentations he has given and plans for future WordCamps.

Emanuel attended the DefCon Conference, which was held in Las Vegas at the end of July 2017. This is a Hackers Conference and first began in 1993.

July 3, 2017 — Florian Gottschall is a professional videographer who fell in love with his trade at an early age. He attended the University of Applied Sciences in Landshut (Bavaria) and has had his own business since 2011. He became involved with WordPress in 2010.

Florian and a group of volunteers attended WordCamp Europe and spent their time recording videos of attendees, volunteers, speakers, etc. The videos can be seen on WordPress TV and the YouTube channel.
