As an official Senate representative of The University of Queensland representing thirty five thousand students, I would like to as my first official act issue a statement of unwavering support for Hong Kong. UQ stands with you in your fight for liberation from Beijing!

I agree, it’s fine to play to fascists literally committing genocide, but the Melbourne Cup? Just a step too far 😂

Yes, violence on all sides. With one side you can count the number of incidents, with the other — cases so innumerable we’ve lost track. 83% blame the government for violence, 74% the police. That’s the context. Anything else feeds soft propaganda. Don’t confuse it with nuance.

How do you explain the mentality of the billionaire Sackler family? They weren't content to destroy thousands of lives for profit in America—they had to push opioids on the people of China, too. The level of greed and cruelty is breathtaking.

The banality of evil. This is what cultural genocide looks like - when a group is barred from wearing its traditional dress (Uighur) and is taught to cherish the dominant ethnic group’s traditions and styles instead (Han).

How does one develop solidarity with those who view their oppressor as their liberator and are even willing to work with that false liberator to oppress others?

For what is now the third day in a row, The Australian leads with attacks on Hong Kong democracy protestors. Just hours after the US Senate passed unanimous legislation in support of protestors, Hedley Thomas describes them as “masked terrorists.” Just unbelievable
