When that freedom gets used by certain media to beat down on the poor, lgbt, Africans, Muslims and refugees? And amplify lies without critical analysis? And then turn around to ask for support with zero self reflection on those failings?

The support the campaign is asking for is *for you* Shitty journalism which punches down can and sadly, likely will continue regardless. It *is* an issue, but it's a separate issue.
-
Why does it have to continue at the biggest and most influential news media companies in Australia? We just have to sit back and take it, do we? Because
#PressFreedom? Absurdly well-paid thugs and goons use#PressFreedom as a shield, decade after decade. Where is Reform? -
I didn't say it has to, just that I'm pessimistic and think it probably will. Media can and should do better and I hope it does but what I'm saying is that it's *a separate issue to press freedom*

The sarcastic backlash was entirely predictable especially given the long history almost universal non-critical acceptance of the government's behaviour regarding secrecy eg on water matters, hiding treatment of refugees off-shore It is an issue, wrong people prosecuting it tbh

But there's not even the slightest indication that our news media industry will reform or change its ways. Just demands for News Customers to shut up and support foreign-owned news media, like NewsCorp. Alan Jones is amongst the highest-paid news industry employees in Australia
