English below – the event is in English – share on facebook – Srdečně vás zveme na přednášku a debatu k právním aspektům a současné situaci v Jeruzalému, na které vystoupí Jack Khalil, právní expert z organizace Jeruzalémské centrum právní pomoci a lidských práv (JLAC) a Dalia Nassar, studentka psychologie, lidskoprávní aktivistka a feministka z Unie výborů palestinských žen (UPWC), která promluví o dopadech situace v Jeruzalémě na životy palestinských žen.

Jack Khalil – právní expert a ředitel jeruzalémské pobočky organizace Jeruzalémské centrum právní pomoci a lidských práv (JLAC). Je rovněž členem správní rady Palestinského poradenského centra (PCC). Jack vystudoval obor Lidská práva a ve své profesi spolupracuje s řadou právních a lidskoprávních organizací v Jeruzalémě a na Západním břehu Jordánu, jako je například Jeruzalémské centrum pro lidská práva.

JLAC se specializuje na poskytování právní pomoci zranitelným komunitám ve Východním Jeruzalémě a jinde na Západním břehu Jordánu. JLAC je klíčovým hráčem při intervencích na podporu občanských a lidských práv; zdarma se ujímá právních případů týkajících se demolic domů, násilných vysídlení, konfiskace půdy a nově také osadnického násilí. Jedním z cílů organizace JLAC je podpora zranitelných palestinských komunit skrze zvyšování povědomí, návštěvy v místech, kde dochází k porušování lidských práv, posilování místních komunit, tvorba institucionálního, právního a strategického prostředí, jež umožňuje mobilizaci sociálního kapitálu a mezinárodní podpory za účelem dodržování lidských práv.
Dalia Nassar – lidskoprávní aktivistka, feministka, organizátorka a studentka psychologie. Vystudovala obor Mezinárodní právo a nyní studuje obor Komunitní psychologie. Pracuje v Unii výborů palestinských žen (UPWC). V této organizaci je aktivní již od mládí, kdy se podílela na řadě kampaní týkajících se především situace v Jeruzalému. Ve své práci se soustředí na sociální, psychologické a ekonomické podmínky žen v Jeruzalémě.
Dalia se narodila do politicky aktivní křesťanské rodiny. Její matka Maha byla členkou Lidové fronty za osvobození Palestiny (PFLP). „Někteří lidé se domnívají, že protože pocházím z křesťanské rodiny, tak mám větší svobodu než muslimské ženy, ale to není pravda. Všechny jsme vystaveny stejným sociálním restrikcím,“ poznamenává. Dalia je velkou zastánkyní sociální spravedlnosti a ženských práv v Palestině.

UPWC usiluje o posílení palestinských žen a jejich situace k dosažení rovnosti mezi muži a ženami a také rovnosti mezi sociálními třídami. Unie dále bojuje za pozitivní prosazení práv žen v rámci všech zákonů platných v Palestině. UPWC se snaží o vybudování občanské, demokratické a pokrokové komunity, zbavené jakýchkoli forem diskriminace a podporující ženská práva v rámci všeobecné podpory lidských práv.

You are cordially welcome to a lecture on the legal context and current situation in Jerusalem by Jack Khalil, Legal Expert from Legal Aid and Human Rights Center (JLAC), and by Dalia Nassar, Human Rights Activist from Union of Palestinian Women Committees (UPWC) who will talk about the impact of the situation in Jerusalem on the lives of Palestinian women.

Jack Khalil – Legal Expert and Director of the Jerusalem Branch of Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center (JLAC). He is also a member at the Board of Directors of the Palestinian Counseling Center (PCC). Jack holds a Master Degree in Human Rights and in his work, he has been cooperating with different legal and human rights organizations in Jerusalem and West Bank such as Jerusalem Center for Human Rights.

JLAC specializes in providing legal aid to vulnerable communities in East Jerusalem and elsewhere in West Bank. JLAC is a key player in interventions in support of civic and human rights; it undertakes pro-bono legal cases related to house demolition, forced displacement, land confiscation, and more recently settler violence. Among the objectives of JLAC are empowering vulnerable Palestinian communities through awareness raising, field visits to places of human rights violations, strengthening local communities; creating an institutional, legislative, and policy environment that enables the mobilization of social capital and international support towards the respect of human rights.
Dalia Nassar – studied International Relations and continues in her MA degree in Community Psychology. Dalia has been active with the Union of Palestinian Women Committees (UPWC) since early age when she joined and supported many campaigns, especially on Jerusalem. In her work she focuses on the social, psychological, and economic conditions of women in Jerusalem.
Dalia was born into politically active Christian family; her mother Maha was a member the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). “Some people think that because I am from a Christian family I have more freedom than Muslim women but that’s not true. We all suffer from the same social restrictions,” she says. The activist has been a strong advocate of social justice and women’s rights in Palestine.

UPWC struggles to empower Palestinian women and develop their circumstances to achieve real equity between men and women as well as equity among all social classes. Moreover, the Union fights to ensure positive affirmation of women within all the laws active in Palestine. UPWC strives to build a civil democratic progressive community free of all forms of discrimination and respects women rights as part of human rights in general.
