April 11, 2019 —  On April 10, Omar Barghouti, a Palestinian human rights defender and a co-founder of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement for Palestinian rights, was denied entry into the United States at Ben Gurion Airport despite having valid travel documents. He was scheduled to travel to the U.S. on a speaking tour that included public events at NYU in Washington, D.C., NYU in New York City, and Harvard University; and meetings with leading policy makers, thought-leaders and journalists.

Palestinian teams and athletes are calling for a boycott of Puma over its support for illegal Israeli settlements on stolen Palestinian land.

A major university in South Africa has announced that it will respect the call for the boycott of Israeli institutions complicit in the violation and denial of Palestinian rights.

We welcome the University of Cape Town’s vote to “condemn the atrocities and human rights violations perpetrated in the Occupied Palestinian Territories” and reserving the right to disassociate itself from “academic institutions that support (directly or indirectly) the violation of human rights and/or enable the violation of human rights.”

March 30, 2019 - Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are marking Land Day and the one-year anniversary of Gaza’s Great March of Return by protesting against Israel’s brutal siege and demanding their rights. These unarmed protesters have been met with Israeli sniper fire that so far has killed 195 protesters, and injured 29,000 more.

The Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar-Ilan University illustrates just why Palestinian academics and civil society call for a boycott of Israeli academic institutions. In paid advertising on Facebook, the Begin-Sadat Center openly advocates for generating increased “hopelessness” among Palestinians, who already live under Israel's regime of military occupation, oppression and apartheid in which Israeli universities are deeply complicit.
