Tiamat and Klauth are up there for dragon baddies. Acerak and Strahd are the most recognizable IMO because they are both immortal. Xanathar has been legit and definitely hyped up some in 4e. There are also some awesome organizations, like the Red Wizards of Thay!

Tiamat makes an appearance in rifts, one of them is actually the mother of demons from Babylonian myth, the other is an ancient great horned dragon impersonating Tiamat badly, even going as far as dressing Egyptian in human form because she's silly.

Orcus without a doubt. Demon Lord of the Undead, who died and came back? Wonderful! Close second is Vecna, so much lore behind his eye and hand along with his relationship with Kas. Halaster is the best mad mage in the multiverse too.

I don’t remember Acerak at all, but I remember his madness and his dungeon. Oh how I remember his dungeon.
