Warning of 'dire consequences' for some Murray-Darling irrigators if water trade restricted

There are fears government intervention in the water market could have "dire consequences" for some Murray-Darling Basin irrigators but horticulture groups that lobbied the federal Water Minister for action on soaring water prices say it can't come soon enough.

An inland trough which has been moving east across the country over the past few days and is now situated just above Oodnadatta, stretching down to the coast around Adelaide.
