The European Democratic Party is a trans-national political movement, which intends to build a European democracy fixed in the shared values of peace, freedom, solidarity and education, while having the ambition to proudly affirm its culture in the future world.

We see a refounded European Union as a decisive asset for the peoples of Europe. Refounded, the EU will refocus on the essentials. Refounded, it will allow citizens to be actively engaged within its institutions.

We want a Europe that is fair, open and dynamic. Admired by the world for its culture and values. Respected for its political action.

We want to wake up the European people because the dream of a united Europe seems to be slipping quietly away and old nightmares are resurfacing.

We want the spirit that blew on the Fathers of the democratic Europe of the twentieth century to be refounded by and for the young generations of the twenty-first century.

Priorities

A Democratic Europe

The European Union must increasingly involve citizens in its deliberations and take their views into account. We defend the idea of more representative and therefore stronger institutions.

Euro and economic governance

Deciding together on the euro area's economic strategy means that we must have common offensive policies for growth and innovation. We support the idea of a new treaty for the eurozone.

Industry and Growth

Europe must pursue two objectives in the service of the same ambition: to decide on a proactive industrial policy and to promote the economy of research and innovation.

European Social Model

The European social model provides a true safety net for all citizens of the European Union. The European Union must consolidate a common pillar of social rights based on the highest standards of each Member State.

Energy and Climate

Climate change is no longer a theory, it is a reality. Europe must lead the way in imposing concrete measures.

Foreign policy and security

Europe has been too absent from recent global turmoil, it must speak with one voice on the world stage if it wishes to be heard.

Migrations and refugees

A fair and effective fight against the tragedies resulting from illegal immigration is essential. In this respect a single asylum system is necessary.

Agriculture

Strengthening and reforming the Common Agricultural Policy is essential to maintain the priority given to food self-sufficiency while promoting the emergence of environment-friendly agriculture.

Discriminations

Major differences between men and women, for example in salary or access to positions of responsibility, must become a thing of the past. Thus, the European Union must support toward equal remuneration and responsibility in businesses.

Cultures

Cultural and linguistic diversity forms the wealth of our continent, our history, our cities and our territories. It makes us what we are.
