Cuba did a lot of humanitarian/financial/l aid in the 1960s-1980s, especially West Africa and Angola and Mozambique. That's how the sound spread. Vice versa, b/c a huge population were slaves, there music took rout, and after the revolution there was a reciprocal art/music exchange, officially, and naturally. | |
