    The total revenue foregone by Govt over last week is 1.45 lac crores in tax reliefs to corporates announced now + 50,0000 crore is export credits given away earlier. So in all, about 1.95 lac crores of revenue has been given away by - about 1% of GDP.

    The theory: if you cut high marginal taxes, compliance increases and the govt revenues can increase. Otherwise it goes into hiding in tax shelters or black markets. It is not a license to increase spending. Don’t know what Nirmala wants to achieve

    Nobody has mentioned it. There is little evidence it applies in India though it should. But the present situation is completely different from the context in which Laffer curve works. See my tweets.

    One thing for Modi haters to hate everything this government does, but am struck by the weak response from Modi supporters, and the fact that some are ready to believe an anon handle's bs critique on FM 's announcement of lowering corporate tax cut. 🤨

    I want to come back to this. First of all, it wasn't just the studies. The actual experience with tax cuts has been overwhelmingly negative, with stunningly clear stories in recent years 1/

    The striking thing is that nearly everyone in the party—from Mitch McConnell to Susan Collins, Paul Ryan to Jim Jordan—bought into the idea that the tax cuts would pay for themselves even as every credible analysis (including conservative think tank studies) said they wouldn’t.

    Totally agree ! It should now be clear to India , Indians that India can only survive with "Secularism ". There is no other way . You may disagree with us . But it will dawn on you sooner or later . There is no India without Secularism in the long run .
