Matrix Lineage :
SDB & AUD sources matrixed & mixed in Adobe Audition 3.0.
Comparatively easy to matrix the two sources (i've knowned more difficulties in others matrix opportunities).
The 2 sources were normalized at the same level - some light adjustments for bass frequencies (Aud source)
The ratio SBD/AUD is about 55/45.
As tracks lengths did not match exactly between SDB and AUD, for some songs, their beginnings and the ends have only one source (aud or sdb) in the matrix, for few seconds.
A great thank to Sirmick & Flyingm for providing us these two beautiful sources.

Notes:
I got this show in a trade a couple of years ago. This is from the Bloodflowers promo tour where the band played in smaller venues than usual. I tried to get tickets for the show but they were sold out within a couple of seconds here. Doh! I'm pretty sure I have the correct venue information and I'm also pretty sure it was recorded off of WXRT in Chicago. The discs I received had sector boundary errors between each track so I fixed those and some sloppy edits in Wavelab. Overall, this is an excellent sounding show but there's a couple of issues with One Hundred Years. There's a couple of dropouts at around one minute into the song. It looks like it happened during the broadcast but I'm not sure. Also, not long after the dropouts, the song fades out and Bloodflowers begins. It seems like an unnatural end to the song and I'd be surprised if it was.

Again I somehow managed to get tickets to a show that sold out lightning fast. Just this time all I could get was the cheap seats on the top, but in this case this was not a bad thing. Just look at the pictures that come along and you’ll know why.

And I had an extra ticket. Selling it to a scalper would have been very easy, but selling it to a fan was a bit trickier. Fear not, I found a young couple that needed one more ticket and seeing their happy faces and their dance across the Piazza Bra after I sold them my extra for face value was worth way more that all the extra cash I could have made selling it on one of the scumbag ticket re-selling sites.

The Arena in Verona is 2000 year old and quiet simply the best arena in the world. Yes, there is no roof and you might get wet, but I rather get wet and enjoy perfect sound than stay dry in one of the modern echo chambers built on the outskirts of each city.

You might have seen one of the last two Pink Floyd (1987ltd.) tours or Roger Waters In the Flesh, Dark Side or Wall tour. All these shows where gigantic sound and visual expiriences with the music timed perfectly to the screen videos and the light show. This Gilmour gig was not, and that’s a great thing. It felt like the music was let out of a way to tight corset and finally could breath again. And not only the music seems happier, but also David Gilmour. It felt to me that he is playing this gigs because that really is what he wants to do right now. With the light show and video screens back on a normal level the music was the center of this concert, and you realize that the music is so good, that it doesn’t need all the over the top glitter.

And one little thing about the setlist: This was billed as a David Gilmour concert and so if you are expecting two and a half hours of Pink Floyd this one is not for you. It would have been easy for David Gilmour to do just that, but I think it’s great that he didn’t.

This was a beautiful night of music in the world’s most beautiful arena. I am glad I get to share this one with you.

Why such a strange title from first Pink Floyd's album? Listen carefully to the show... You will hear two guys screaming loudly near the taper: "Take up my stethoscope and walk" just before "Atom Heart Mother"... Raw rip from very nice 2nd generation audience tapes. This is as complete copy of this concert, as we will ever get. Copy from copy of the taper's masters (show was recorded on portable reel-to-reel - parts one and three on one tape, part two on the other).
As we can see now - and contrary to "In The Flesh" book - "Atom Heart Mother" as performed as an encore, not "Echoes"...

notes by the taper: Decent to VG sounding audience recording.... an honest capture of an incredible evening. The tapers in this part of the country always represents, so I am certain that there will be better-sounding torrents of this show posted soon.. but here is something for yer breakfast if you're waking up over the pond. You KNOW that the songs are coming, you KNOW what they'll sound like (thanks to the generous offerings of this ZIP CODE tour here on the best torrent site on the planet). And yet, you still cannot believe that you're actually hearing them live when these songs crank up.. just a stupendous performance and an enchanting evening. Keith is just nailing everything in his path and Mick is impossible not to watch.. Charlie just keeps it all together and Ronnie is just having a blast... what a blessing to see this band again. I for one cannot imagine that they are thinking about "retiring" from the road... the crowd was at a frenzy from the first note and the band was firing on all cyclinders.. we'll see. Sweet and rockin' Avetts support set to follow after I get some sleep.

After stops in Sapporo and Yokohama, the Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood tour played in Osaka for two nights. The first night is presented on Midland Maniac by Tarantura. Sourced from a Mr. Hanatan tape, it’s close to the stage and has very good sound quality. Only a slight dullness prevents it from being an excellent tape, but the dullness curiously enhances the guitar sound and makes this one of the most visceral documents from this tour.

There is a special quality right from the start of the show when the artists play dueling leads in “Had To Cry Today.” At times they echo one another, and at other times they play “compare and contrast,” and make it quite interesting before.

Winwood gives “After Midnight” a slight boogie vibe underneath Clapton’s joyful vocals. The segue into “Presence Of The Lord” is seamless and the performance of the Blind Faith classic is gorgeous. The artists take turns singing the verses and Clapton plays a magnificent wah-wah solo in the middle.

The transition from Traffic’s “Glad” into “Well All Alright” is another highlight early in the show. The rhythm of the latter changes from disco to a marital and serious beat in a second, and they both stand in contrast to the insane Chris Stainton keyboard solo in the middle.

After “Key To The Highway” play “Midland Maniac” instead of “Pearly Queen,” the Traffic tune they played the previous night and end the first half with “Georgia On My Mind.”

The acoustic interlude begins with “Driftin’.” The Robert Wilkins cover “That’s No Way To Get Along” is played with a chilling quality in Clapton’s vocals. They follow with the acoustic arrangement of “Wonderful Tonight” which debuted the previous night in Yokohama, and end with “Can’t Find My Way Home.”

They start the finale with a rather limp version of “Gimme Some Lovin’.” Maybe they were still thinking about the awesome heights of the acoustic set, but it sounds like they’re not really into the song. “Voodoo Chile” sounds frightening as every, and is a worthy set closer.

The encores remains the same as all the shows, a long “Cocaine” followed by the Traffic classic “Dear Mr. Fantasy.”

Notes:
Recorded from Section E row 41 (Ronnie's side on the floor). My seat was supposed to be quite a bit further back on the field, but they upgraded a bunch of us to the front section, so I ended up being much closer than expected. Despite the threat of rain and that there had been storms earlier in the evening, the weather was perfect for the show. I just love the fact that these guys are still going strong and are capable of putting on a sold show that is very entertaining besides the fact that they are living legends. Catch them while you can, and you won't be disappointed.

This is the last known recording of Careful With That Axe, Eugene

#7 in Top 10 Pink Floyd shows of all time, according to the Pink FLoyd database: http://pinkroioshn.myftp.org/index.php?list=bs

This show is the best of the best, absolutely fantastic from top to bottom. And I'm not just saying that because I was the seed...

Ed Paule's complete release notes are below:

Oh, the storied history of Animal Instincts...
Ron Toon released AI (rev0) to the world sometime during the last millennia. Long before Harvested had a QA department.
It was my discussions with Ron concerning the clicks, pops, and other glitches in AI (rev0) that led to my joining the team.
One of my earliest contributions was to deglitch AI and the first rev A edition was released.
As the years went by, a much lower generation source for this show emerged. My first knowledge of its existance was the RoIO Mr Pig. Although the SQ on Mr Pig was better than AI (you can hear many subtleties not detectable on AI revA), Mr Pig had other problems, like clipping, gaps during the tape flips, unbalanced, etc. So the thoughts of doing a rev B began.
That was two years ago...
About six months ago, we decided to do it. We got another source, a better source than Mr Pig. One that didn't have the clipping problem. Then Marc-Olivier went to work.
Marc-Oliver spent quite sometime remastering this new source and expertly patching the tape flips. Then it was my turn.
I recently finished doing the deglitching and sent a copy to Richard to start the weed.
So here it is! Animal Instincts rev B (HRV-CDR-014) Pink Floyd recorded live at the Oakland Coliseum May 9, 1977.
For me, the highlight of this show is SoYCD6-9. It's the best version of this song ever.
For those of you that already own a copy of AI, you know that a bonus track is included at the end of disc two. This being the studio version of Pigs on the Wing with Snowy White prviding a bridge between the two parts. AI rev0 and revA simple included a copy of this song as it was released on Snowy White's Goldtop CD. Well...
We've changed this too for AI revB. Now you have the original version (the Pink Floyd mix) as it appeared on the original 8-track tapes, transferred to digital direct from an original 8-track tape. This version is different than the Goldtop version (the Snowy mix).
