Rob Jo Star Band- S/T (1975)

"Very great & unknown French quasi prog/psych hard rocker originally released on the Dom label in 1975. Even amongst the European psychedelic cognoscenti, Rob Jo Star Bands sole lp is somewhat of an enigma. Careening forward & stumbling over 13th Floor Elevators bleeb alien moves, Velvet Underground sustained vibes & Stooges-like guitar fuzz, Rob Joe Star created a singular masterpiece that is truly incomparable to anything released in or around its time (circa 1975). Along with the Angel Face Wild Odyssey lp, one of Frances long obscured musical treasures. French import, edition of 300." (Fusetronsound)

Far-out, bizarro French psych/protopunk from 1975. Like an incoherent, uber-primitive Velvets or Simply Saucer collaborating with Pierre Henry- what with all the freaky synth doodlings and such. Lyrics sung in a barely decipherable "English", with something of a cut-rate Damo Suzuki vibe. Freaking sweet! LP reissue on Pomme. Many thanks to yellow5 for the rip.

The Monochrome Set- Early Recordings: 1975-1977 "White Noise" (Capitured Tracks 73)

"THE MONOCHROME SET have a huge legacy in post-punk and indie rock history. White Noise represents the period before their first LP or 7-inch, before punk really took hold in the UK, in fact. These seven songs from '75-'77 have never appeared on vinyl before this release, and we're thrilled to get it out there. Monochrome Set have recently reformed for a European tour." (Midhaven)

Sardonic, low-key rock with a crystal clear Velvets influence. Hints of Devo-esque New Wave in tracks like "We Are Zarbie" & "Flesh.Trash.Heat". A tasty serving of '70s pre-punk from this largely underrated group. 320 Vinyl Rip by yours truly.

Mirrors- Something that Would Never Do (1974-75 *Violet Times LP)

"MIRRORS USES BIG MUFF FUZZ TONES"

"Finally! The classic Cleveland, OH sounds from the 70's all on one handy full length- 15 trax, including both sides of the Hearthan 7" single, all but one of the "Those Were Different Times" Scat 10" cuts, and others from "Hands In My Pockets" cd on Overground. It's solid, some might say a "best of" even. All trax recorded '74 and '75. Officially licensed from the band and remastered for the ear by John Golden, includes those cool old school, tip-on jacket covers that most of the record nerds i know love, but don't seem to know what they are. 800 copies, worldwide."

You can still purchase one of the last remaining LPs straight from Violet Times.

Mirrors- Shirley / She Smiled Wild (1975)

"Essential Cleveland, Ohio pre-punk / proto-punk sounds, trax recorded in 1975. Although these two trax were recorded in 1975, their release would have to wait until two years later when original Mirrors drummer, Michael Weldon facilitated their release on Hearthan in 1977, the label run by David Thomas of Pere Ubu." (Violet Times)

Studio A-side & Live B-side. Both are pretty off the hook. The live side (She Smiled Wild) has a sort of White Light/White Heat freakout appeal. 320 vinyl rip by yours truly.
