Jessica Lange on Why She Doesn’t Think She’ll Return to ‘American Horror Story’ Again
As “American Horror Story: 1984” premieres Wednesday, fans are wondering what twists and turns the latest season of Ryan Murphy’s FX anthology series has in store for them. Though we don’t know much yet about Season 9, one thing we can tell you with almost 100% certainty is it will not include an appearance by “Ahs” alum Jessica Lange. Inside the Blockbuster $600 Million ‘Big Bang Theory’ Streaming Deal With HBO Max
As one of TV’s most popular shows of the past 20 years, “The Big Bang Theory” was sure to command a huge price when the streaming rights were finally shopped in a red-hot market for iconic comedies with large libraries.

But “Big Bang Theory” wasn’t shopped widely on the open market before the streaming pact with HBO Max and the four-year cable extension with TBS was announced early Tuesday morning. The reason is because of a provision in the original megabucks syndication deal that TBS set with “Big Bang” back in 2010.

Even 10 years ago, that agreement anticipated that streaming

‘Seinfeld,’ ‘Big Bang’ Mega-Deals Prove Classic TV Sitcoms Could Decide Who Wins in Streaming

  • The Wrap
As Disney, WarnerMedia and Comcast all prepare to challenge Netflix for its streaming throne, their success or failure could be decided by shows that existed long before anyone knew the phrase “binge-viewing.” Netflix paid handsomely for “Seinfeld,” while WarnerMedia is dipping into its bank account so “Friends” and “The Big Bang Theory” can bolster HBO Max when it debuts next year. NBCU’s newly-named streaming service Peacock is built around reruns of “The Office,” and other classic NBC sitcoms, such as “Parks & Recreation,” “Cheers” and “30 Rock.” These are strategic, savvy moves, according to analysts and entertainment executives who spoke to TheWrap. While original content may be the lure that gets subscribers to bite, streaming services — by next spring, the field will have at least five newcomers — can’t rely only on those subscribers liking every new show. “In streaming, there’s a lot of unknowns,” Devin Griffin, general manager for Bet+,
