Daniel Johnston, 1961–2019

WFMU mourns the passing of Daniel Johnston, whose music was championed by many WFMU DJs going all of the way back to his very earliest homemade cassette releases in the early ’80s (which still reside in our library). Daniel appeared live on WFMU on more than one occasion, but perhaps most memorably singing along over the phone to Yo La Tengo‘s accompaniment on his own “Speeding Motorcycle.” You can hear that song and his entire performance of 3 songs (and more) on Nick Hill’s “Live Music Faucet” here. Read more about that night here.

New Fall Program Schedule Is Underway

THIS WEEK marked the kick-off of our fall program schedule! Some DJs have stayed put, others have taken a bit of time off, and some folks who haven’t been on in awhile return. See where your favorites are by checking here. The fall-winter schedule runs from September 9th through June 2020.
