‘The Crown’ Abandons Plan to CGI Olivia Colman’s Eyes in Season 3

‘The Crown’ Abandons Plan to CGI Olivia Colman’s Eyes in Season 3
The casting of Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II in “The Crown” Season 3 has caused something of a continuity controversy given the Oscar-winning actress has brown eyes. Claire Foy, who played the character in the first two seasons of the Netflix smash hit, has blue eyes, correctly matching the color of the real Queen Elizabeth II. Netflix’s first look images for “The Crown” Season 3 confirmed Colman was keeping her brown eye color in the role, but that doesn’t mean the production didn’t try to maintain eye color continuity.

The Crown” director Ben Caron told The Guardian in a recent interview that the production first tried to use blue contact lenses on Colman to get her to match both Foy and the real Queen Elizabeth II. The problem was that the contact lenses got in the way of Colman’s acting. Caron said it felt as if Colman “was acting behind a mask…

FCC Proposes $272,000 Fine Against CBS’ ‘Young Sheldon’ for Use of Emergency Alert
The hit CBS sitcom “Young Sheldon” is in hot water with the FCC over its use of sound effects avoking the Emergency Alert System tone during an episode that aired last April, and the agency is now proposing a $272,000 fine.

The episode, titled “A Mother, A Child, and a Blue Man’s Backside,” aired April 22 and featured a character watching the broadcast of a cartoon that is interrupted by a tornado watch. The moment featured a background sound similar to the EAS tone. The tone was altered in an attempt to avoid violating FCC rules that forbid using such tones except during actual emergency situations or authorized tests, but in a statement released Monday night, the FCC said the show didn’t go far enough.

“On April 12, 2018, CBS transmitted an episode of “Young Sheldon” via at least 227 television stations, including 15 of CBS’s owned-and-operated television stations. The episode included a

Critics Pick Their Favorite TV Doctors of All Time

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday.

This week’s question: Who is your favorite TV doctor of all time? (Doctor Who does not count.)

Damian Holbrook (@damianholbrook), TV Guide Magazine

I am not a fan of how TV usually represents doctors. They are mostly either super earnest and “I am going to save you at the risk of my career!” annoying or the “doesn’t play by the rules” rebel who rides a motorcycle down the ER hallway. Both are tired. And don’t even start me on the hard-ass doctors who obviously know everything and show it off while parading a crew of new residents through a massive hospital during the opening of soooooo many pilots. We get it: Their job is their life and they have a secret soft center.

No, I like my doctors like

Wme Seeks Dismissal of Writers Guild Lawsuit Over Packaging Fees

Wme is seeking to dismiss the Writers Guild of America’s suit alleging packaging fees are illegal.

The move comes three weeks after the WGA withdrew its state court suit against Wme, CAA, UTA and ICM Partners and re-filed suit in federal court. The guild is seeking a declaration that packaging fees are unlawful.
