    Gun violence is not a future challenge. It’s a deadly danger that must be addressed now. Climate change is not a reality that wil strike us in the future. It’s happening now. Donald Trump is a divisive, racist criminal danger that must be confronted now, not just 2020.

    We know Russians funded the NRA w/ millions. We know Russians funded attacks on our elections. It’s clear the Russians were & are engaged in a war against America w/ the help of the gun lobby, Trump & his camp, & all the Americans motivated by them to buy guns & vote for Trump.

    Happy 58th Birthday, President Obama! Let’s spread some goodness.

    I’m not a nostalgic person, but do you remember how calm, how prepared, how intelligent, thoughtful & caring Obama was? How he knew how to tell a joke & he valued being a good dad? I mention these examples to remind us what’s normal and sane and what we should expect in a leader.

    It’s not hard to grasp how we got here: The deadly combo of easy access to military weaponry, a rise in white supremacy, a man in the WH encouraging racist hate and inciting violence, a powerful gun lobby and a majority party that will not act. This epidemic must be confronted.

    As our nation mourns the senseless loss of life in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio and prays for the victims and their loved ones, we must also raise our voices in rejection of these heinous and cowardly acts of hate, terror and violence.

    We are seeing a serious rise in deadly domestic terrorism. The refusal of Trump and the GOP to stop it tells you they will not keep us safe, they are bent on allowing these white supremacists to wage war on our country. They are abdicating their oath of office & their moral duty.

    We are horrified by your inaction, Mitch. We are horrified by your empty comments when you are in a position to do something about gun violence, the rise of white nationalist terrorism and the man in the White House who incites it with his hate-filled rhetoric.

    The entire nation is horrified by today's senseless violence in El Paso. Elaine's and my prayers go out to the victims of this terrible violence, their families and friends, and the brave first responders who charged into harm’s way.
