  4. We need a national model or interstate recognition of assistance animal identification and certification that is clear and simple so that the hurdles of bureaucracy don't stop survivors from living a good life and from getting comfort from a simple thing like a dog.

    The bill outlines that serious misconduct includes an omission to act. It sends a clear signal to people in power that the cover up of abuse & illegal behaviour is never acceptable.

    Currently a former GG or their spouse will continue to receive retirement allowances worth millions even where they have engaged in serious misconduct including conviction and imprisonment for a crime This represents a clear oversight in legislation that should be rectified.

    Today I will introduce a private members bill that amends the Governor-General Act 1974 to stop paying standard allowances to former Governors-General, and their spouses, where they have engaged in serious misconduct.
