from Appalachians Against Pipelines
7/25: Two more people were arrested today at the Yellow Finch sits, again for downright nonsense reasons including the Virginia state police’s (aka Mountain Valley Pipeline security) new favorite “obstructing the free passage of others” charge.
This makes 4 pipeline fighters currently in jail.
In the face of this escalation of arrests clearly aimed to intimidate us, we are STILL HERE. Today is day 324 of the Yellow Finch sits, which still stand tall in the path of this atrocious pipeline.
We need your help, come join us!
Bail, as y’all know, is expensive. As the cops arrest one pipeline fighter after another, we aim to keep enough cash on hand to get folks out when needed (a privilege that we recognize so many people being held on bail do not have). Help us out if you can at bit.ly/supportmvpresistance — this money is used for bail (we do not have a separate legal fund, this is the donation link we are asking folks to use), as well as things like food & supplies for the Yellow Finch tree sits and ongoing resistance.
If you can, come out here and help us defend this hillside and/or fight this pipeline in other ways.
Message us or email appalachiansagainstpipelines@protonmail.com for more info.
Can’t do either of those things? Spread the word. Host a fundraiser. Get involved in a campaign in your own community. Fight the power!
We are still here. We won’t back down.
7/26: Today is day 325 at the Yellow Finch tree sits and we are still here!
We are still asking folks to COME OUT HERE to Elliston to support and help us defend this hillside. Just by being here, you are supporting the blockade. We are all safer and hold more power with the increase in numbers.
Mountain Valley Pipeline construction has reached the hillside that we have been defending for 325 days, and continues every day. Law enforcement and pipeline security presence is high — we need more people!
KEY DATES — Monday 7/29, and Monday 8/12. Remember the open court case in which MVP requested an injunction against the tree sitters and their supporters way back in December, but the federal judge has yet to rule? Yep, that one. MVP recently submitted a filing asking the judge to rule by Monday, July 29th. The company claims that the sits MUST be evicted by August 12, 2019, “or MVP will begin incurring hundreds of thousands of dollars in move around costs.”
Help us hold this space on Monday 7/29, through Monday 8/12, and beyond!
HOW TO GET HERE — Come to the end of Yellow Finch during daylight hours. If you need directions or more info, message us or email appalachiansagainstpipelines@protonmail.com. If you plan to stay overnight, please contact us in advance!
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING — Your own tent/sleeping situation (again, if you plan to stay overnight, please contact us in advance!), some food, cold drinks, ice, good shoes with traction, common sense.
“I CAN’T COME, HOW ELSE CAN I HELP?” — Donate at bit.ly/supportmvpresistance. Spread the word, put these flyers up! If you want them as a PDF or quarters, shoot us an email.
