The Gentoo Foundation has partnered with Nitrokey to equip all Gentoo developers with free Nitrokey Pro 2 devices. Gentoo developers will use the Nitrokey devices to store cryptographic keys for signing of git commits and software packages, GnuPG keys, and SSH accounts.

GNOME 3.30 is now available in Gentoo Linux testing branch. Starting with this release, GNOME on Gentoo once again works with OpenRC, in addition to the usual systemd option.

This is achieved through the [elogind project](https://github.com/elogind/elogind), a standalone logind implementation based on systemd code, which is currently maintained by a fellow Gentoo user.

Gentoo would like to thank Mart Raudsepp (leio), Gavin Ferris, and all others working on this for their contributions.

Using Gentoo since 2008 and I have no plans about switch to another Linux. Despite good updated docu...mentation and a good collection of "packages", the community is really good. See More
It is super distribution. I have no more time to use LFS, so I switch to Gentoo an it's very good choice
Teh best operating system available for open source users everywhere.

Gentoo gives you complete con...trol over every part of the OS from the source code on up to the graphical user interfaces. If it's possible to modify, you can do it with Gentoo. Essentially taking everything from Linux from Scratch and making it conveniently modifiable system-wide via global USE flags.

For new users: Gentoo will teach you more than you thought you could know and take you deeper than you've never been into controlling your system from the ground floor to the penthouse. Don't be surprised that's it is 'hard'. You'll grow into it!
