    Personal data of the kind held by Equifax should be thought of (both technically and as a matter of policy) much like radioactive waste. Best practice for protecting it is not to collect it in the first place, with potentially unlimited liability for those who mishandle it.

    This is outrageous, and yet another example of why we need a moratorium on law enforcement use of this technology. Lawmakers need to immediately halt law enforcement use of this surveillance technology, and companies need to stop gaslighting the public about its harmful uses.

    My opinion of Apple has definitely improved recently because of little things like this. I hope more companies try to promote "your device is your castle" as a 21st century norm.
