This marine life and amusement park offer a variety of attractions for groups of all ages, yet it still feels like a Six Flags attempt at a Busch Gardens or SeaWorld park. Does this help or take away from what Discovery Kingdom has to offer? This is my full review, as of my visit in June of 2016!

I did a run around of my hometown Vallejo California. The First City to go bankrupt in the state of California. Its a itty bitty city by the water located 30 Minutes north of San Francisco. I missed a lot of Vallejo's Neighborhoods but this is just the begging of many Vallejo videos.

i/ˌkælᵻˈfɔːrnjə/ KAL-ə-FORN-yə, /ˌkælᵻˈfɔːrniə/ KAL-ə-FAWR-nee-ə) is a state located on the West Coast of the United States. It is the most populous U.S. state, with 39 million people, and the third largest state by area (after Alaska and Texas). California is bordered by Oregon to the north, Nevada to the east, Arizona to the southeast, and the Mexican state of Baja California to the south. It contains the nation's second most populous census statistical area (Greater Los Angeles Area) and the fifth most populous (San Francisco Bay Area), and eight of the nation's 50 most populated cities (Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno, Sacramento, Long Beach, and Oakland). Sacramento has been the state capital since 1854.
What is now California was first settled by various Native American tribes before being explored by a number of European expeditions during the 16th and 17th centuries. It was then claimed by the Spanish Empire as part of Alta California in the larger territory of New Spain. Alta California became a part of Mexico in 1821 following its successful war for independence, but was ceded to the United States in 1848 after the Mexican–American War. The western portion of Alta California was organized as the State of California, which was admitted as the 31st state on September 9, 1850. The California Gold Rush starting in 1848 led to dramatic social and demographic change, with large-scale immigration from the east and abroad with an accompanying economic boom.

Vallejo, California
Vallejo (/vəˈleɪ.oʊ/ or /vəˈleɪhoʊ/; Spanish: [baˈʎexo]) is the largest city in Solano County, California, United States. The population was 115,942 at the 2010 census. It is the tenth most populous city in the San Francisco Bay Area, and is located on the northeastern shore of San Pablo Bay. Vallejo is named for General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo and the neighboring city of Benicia is named for his wife.
Vallejo is home to the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom theme park, the now-defunct Mare Island Naval Shipyard, and the regional office for Region 5 of the United States Forest Service. The colleges and universities in Vallejo are California Maritime Academy, the Vallejo Center campus of Solano Community College, and Touro University California. Ferry service runs from a terminal on Mare Island Strait to San Francisco, through the BayLink division of SolTrans.
Vallejo has twice served as the capital of the state of California: once in 1852 and again in 1853, both periods being brief. The State Capitol building burned to the ground in the 1880s and the Vallejo Fire Department requested aid from the Fire Department at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. As there were no bridges at that time, the Mare Island Fire Department had to be ferried across the Napa River, arriving to find only the foundation remaining. This was the first recorded mutual aid response in the state of California.

San Francisco Bay Area
The San Francisco Bay Area is a populous region surrounding the San Francisco and San Pablo estuaries in Northern California. The region encompasses the major cities and metropolitan areas of San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose, along with smaller urban and rural areas. The Bay Area's nine counties are Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma. Home to approximately 7.44 million people, the nine-county Bay Area contains many cities, towns, airports, and associated regional, state, and national parks, connected by a network of roads, highways, railroads, bridges, tunnels and commuter rail. The combined statistical area of the region is the second-largest in California (after the Greater Los Angeles area), the fifth-largest in the United States, and the 43rd-largest urban area in the world.
The United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB) does not use the nine-county definition of the San Francisco Bay Area. The OMB has designated a more extensive 12-county Combined Statistical Area (CSA) titled the San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA Combined Statistical Area which also includes the three counties of San Joaquin, Santa Cruz, and San Benito that do not border San Francisco Bay, but are economically tied to the nine counties that do.

Jay Tee
James Trujillo, better known by his stage name Jay Tee, is a rapper, songwriter and producer from Vallejo, CA. He has been a part of the city's scene since the early 1990s as the lead member of N2Deep and Latino Velvet along with Baby Beesh. Even though N2Deep's 2000 album Slightly Pimpish/Mostly Doggish was a solo album, it wasn't until 2001 that Jay Tee released a solo album under his own name.
Latino Velvet was originally composed of Jay Tee and Baby Beesh in 1997 on the album Latino Velvet Project. Although the album featured several tracks with Frost and Don Cisco, it wasn't until 2000 that they were featured on the cover with equal billing to Jay Tee and Baby Beesh. Velvet City featured several west coast artists including: E-40, Levitti, Rappin' 4-Tay, Bosko, Cool Nutz and the Mary Jane Girls.
Jay Tee is the founder and owner of 40 Ounce Records. Jay Tee has remains an underground presence in The Bay Area since his debut almost 2 decades ago.

In this travel video guide to San Francisco, I travel to San Francisco, California, one of the most scenic cities in the United States, if not the world. In town for a conference for only four days, only one of which was going to be sunny, I headed out to see as much as I could in a day. I started my day by visiting the Haight-Ashbury district, San Francisco's most famous neighborhood. I stumbled out into Downtown San Jose with an HDSLR looking for something interesting to shoot. This mini travel documentary is the result. This was written, edited and finished in two afternoons using final cut studio. The grade is a first pass in Apple Color to see how it holds up on different systems/monitors. (so far I think I crushed the blacks a bit too much and I've noticed that vimeo's encoding does some wokny things with motion estimation on occasion.) The Mormons who came to this region during their search for the ‘Promised Land’ gave the Joshua Tree its name as it reminded them of the holy prophet of the same name. Las Vegas appears like a mirage in the desert, awake night and day, THE entertainment capital of the world! Guarded by a sphinx that stretches its paws out toward the Strip, a pyramid looms above the desert paradise, the Luxor Hotel, one of many theme hotels in this incredible city. The MGM lion guards one of the largest hotels in the world with over five thousand rooms, whereas the Bellagio is a return to the exclusive nature of the casino hotels of the past: here, luxury is at its zenith - an investment of 1,8 billion dollars speaks for itself! Only two and a half hours by car to the west of Las Vegas is the USA’s most recent national park that extends to the opposite side of California’s border, Death Valley! It was through here that thousands of pioneers took a short cut while journeying west, many of them perishing in the attempt. Make sure you ride the most popular attractions right when the park opens. Knott's has a similar service called FastLane, but you have to pay for it.

Tip No. 4: Get on the Groupon list for each city you are visiting. You'll be able to get discounts on some really cool attractions and restaurants you may not have considered before. If you want great hotel rates, check out sites like Priceline or Hotel Tonight for last-minute lodging.
Tip No. 5: If you plan on visiting several theme parks or attractions, look into the Go Card or City Pass. They offer discounts on many of the most popular sights in LA, San Diego and San Francisco. If you're a Costco member, many warehouses sell discount tickets to theme parks, restaurants and sporting events.
Tip. No. 6: If there's an expensive restaurant you want to try, go during happy hour. Often you'll get to sample their best dishes and drinks at half the price.
Tip No. 7: Families should plan their San Diego vacations in October, when the city hosts its Kids Free month. Many of the area's most popular attractions, including San Diego Zoo, the Wild Animal Park and Balboa Park are free for kids 12 and under.

In this travel video guide to San Francisco, I travel to San Francisco, California, one of the most scenic cities in the United States, if not the world.
In town for a conference for only four days, only one of which was going to be sunny, I headed out to see as much as I could in a day. I started my day by visiting the Haight-Ashbury district, San Francisco's most famous neighborhood. Ground zero for the Summer of Love, this neighborhood's bohemian past is still evident as you walk around the area, though things have changed quite a bit.
Next I headed to the Mission District, San Francisco's "It" neighborhood right now. Home to a large and varied immigrant population, cheap rents have lured many a young and hip individual to the area, evidenced by the artisanal chocolate shops, used book stores and proliferation of coffee shops. There are also great taco shops here. I visit Taqueria Cancun and El Toro to see which I liked best.
Then I hopped on a boat to get a unique view of the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge, which we sailed under, then traveled past Alcatraz Island and Angel Island.
Wrapping things up, I walked through the Presidio for a pilgrimage to Lucasfilm, complete with a Yoda fountain, then hiked one of the Presidio's many trails to get a great view as the sun set over the bay.

I stumbled out into Downtown San Jose with an HDSLR looking for something interesting to shoot. This mini travel documentary is the result. This was written, edited and finished in two afternoons using final cut studio.
The grade is a first pass in Apple Color to see how it holds up on different systems/monitors. (so far I think I crushed the blacks a bit too much and I've noticed that vimeo's encoding does some wokny things with motion estimation on occasion.)

Yosemite National Park sits on the western slopes of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. Most visitors spend their time in Yosemite Valley, which despite being only 7 miles long and 1 mile wide, packs in more jaw-dropping scenery than just about any other place on Earth.
Near the valley entrance stop at Tunnel View, and stand before a panorama that’s reduced generations of visitors to silence. From Tunnel View it’s just a short drive to Bridalveil Fall. Fed by snowmelt, the fall reaches its thundering peak in May.
The Yosemite Valley ring road follows the banks of the Merced River, which shifts in character as it thunders from the valley walls, before gently winding across the valley floor. Canadian filmmaker Apolla Echino was tired of seeing men get to have all the fun in adventure films and is on a one-woman mission to change that around. Her documentary series, A Woman’s Guide To The World, has taken her aboard a tall ship sailing to Antarctica and into the wildest corners of the Amazon jungle. But it’s the latest chapter, a wintertime surf trip across the stunning South Island of New Zealand that has attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers from across the globe.
The film charts Apolla's journey from the breathtaking Kaikoura coastline, south to the Catlins and west to the wild and remote Jackson Bay. Apolla even chances upon a freshwater break at the mouth of the Buller River - a rare event that only occurs a dozen times a year. In the freezing New Zealand winter, Apolla is often the only surfer in the water - a fate that she says was both intimidating and exhilarating, “At times I wondered what the hell I was doing taking such a gutsy trip.”
It’s a sacrifice she felt it was necessary to take in order to show other woman what is possible. Apolla says she wants other women to be inspired by her films, “I started the series with the hope it might encourage women to be the subject of their own adventure stories.”
“Solo travelling is one of the greatest ways I have found to build a deep and lasting relationship with yourself,” says Apolla. “It forces you to rely on your instincts, to hone a deep trust in your ability to rise to a challenge and in the quieter moments of the journey, to turn inward.”
Remarkably, Apolla only started surfing in her 30s after a relocation to Los Angeles from New York, “I bought a 9’4 board and found my sweet spot as a long-boarder. I loved the laid back vibe of it and the sturdy feel of it under my feet on a wave.” Now that same green board with a heart on it that she’d surfed in California accompanies her throughout the film as she journeys across the South Island.
Despite donning a 5.5mm wetsuit, the cold was a constant on the trip, “Since I was surfing every day and sleeping without electricity at night, my wetsuit, booties and gloves never had the chance to dry. Putting on the wet gear in the morning after a cold night was never pleasant,” she says.
This surf, adventure film is not without an emotional undertow. The trip came at a challenging time for Apolla who was in the early throes of a relationship breakup. She says the time spent alone out in the water was actually the perfect medicine, “If you ever have to make a big life call, doing it out in the surf is the way to do it. You feel calm, quiet and connected to something bigger than yourself.”

Every 15 minutes someone in America dies of an alcohol related automobile accident. This 11 minute video takes the viewer through the experience of being involved in an alcohol related automobile accident where two teenagers die, several others are injured, and one is arrested, booked, and then held in custody for driving under the influence. The viewer is also taken to the hospital to witness the emergency room activity where one teenager dies and another (an athlete) is told she may be paralyzed. In 2016, after a year and a half of planning, Vallejo Rotary, along with the help of many local agencies and sponsors, produced the Every 15 Minutes program at Jesse Bethel High School in Vallejo, California.

Vallejo wildland fire fully contained, burns 39.5 acres The grass fire that threatened dozens of Vallejo homes was on a hillside where fires are all too frequent. Located above I-80, any car spark can set the hill ablaze, and put Glen Cover properties at risk. "I love it here with the view, San Pablo Bay, but it's just so frustrating," homeowner John Fox told KTVU as he looked at the charred wreckage of his backyard. "All this was alive and green when I went to work," he said, pointing to a blackened rose garden and avocado tree, and collapsed fence and gate. The grass fire that threatened dozens of Vallejo homes was on a hillside where fires are all too frequent.

The four alarm grass fire raced up the hill behind Fox's house just before 1 pm, and damaged four houses on the ridgelline.
Fox was teaching summer school in Pittsburg, when a neighbor texted him about the fire.
He rushed home and grabbed a garden hose, trying to help firefighters.
"It was hard to do anything because the smoke and ash were everywhere, and I have asthma," he added.
Fortunately the firefight was swift, from the air with aircraft dropping water and retardant, and on the ground with engines and bulldozers.
It all began with a car fire, on I-80 eastbound, just past the toll plaza of the Carquinez Bridge.
A Jeep SUV had pulled over to the shoulder, and as it burned, it sparked grass along the freeway.
"That area is pretty problematic for us every year," admitted Battalion Chief Cliff Campbell of the Vallejo Fire Dept, " so we dispatched an additional engine from the get-go just because of the possibility of it getting to wildland."
The fire quickly went to four alarms, so that mutual aid could position engines in the neighborhood in case embers in the wind caught roofs on fire.
For two of the nearest houses, it was hot enough to break windows, melt blinds and curtains.
When eaves started burning, firefighters cut them down rather than risk flames spreading into attics.
When it subsided, the worst-damaged homeowner calmly cleaned-up, unfazed by the mess, just glad her mom and daughter got out safely.
"Coming home on the BART train, I couldn't understand my mother if she was saying , our house was on fire or not," Chandi Reliford told KTVU, describing a stressful ride home from San Francisco as the fire burned.
Sweeping up broken glass from shattered windows, Reliford was remarkably upbeat.
"We've got our lives. I consider us really blessed. Really blessed. All of our things are intact, nothing burned up and we're insured," she said gratefully.
Reliford does agree with her neighbor Fox that a better fire break is needed on their hill, since any spark on I-80 puts them in danger.
"I'm 6'2' and some of the weeds were up to my waist," said Fox, "and since this is the fourth or fifth fire in ten years, I wish there was a wall built so this doesn't happen."
May of 2016 was the last time the hill caught fire, but it didn't burn so perilously close that time. "Sometimes matches are thrown from cars, cigarette butts, exhaust sparks," explained Deputy Vallejo Fire Chief Mark Sharpe.
"And win this area, because of the wind, it makes a pretty quick run up the hill".
Two firefighters were hurt on the hilly terrain, suffering minor leg and ankle injuries.
