It has come to my attention lately that people with RES installed will run into issues seeing nearly unreadable text when a comment or opening post is highlighted. This isn't a fault of the CSS of the sub, but rather an issue with RES highlighting the currently selected comment.

To turn off this feature (which is admittedly irritating), go to:

RES Settings Console -> Browsing -> Selected Entry -> Then turn off "addFocusBGColor"

Hey y'all !

I spent a LOT of time looking for the right monitor and ultimately decided on this 4k Acer but I personally really dislike matte finishes and the matte finish on this monitor was high-key killing me lol.

So I was gonna take it back and possibly get an LG Ultrafine but I really didn't want to doll out the extra $1000 but I figured I had no other option (besides a thunderbolt display or 1080p displays).

Then I heard about taking the anti-glare filter off as it's just a layer and I was in a 'fuk it' kinda mood so I went for it and it turned out amazing. The colours are way better and there is absolutely no hazing now. This is a VA panel too so the blacks look even better now.

Just wanted to post this to let anyone else know that it's possible if they're in the same predicament.

I did get this monitor on sale $100CDN cheaper so I wasn't as anxious about doing it but it's still a risky process.

All I did was follow the forum thread below and it was pretty easy.

~ The Process ~

I let my display soak for about 4hr. 10min. but I would recommend probably another two hours. It came off fairly easily but not as easily as I'd like.

Hi guys,

I have been researching for days now, but I cant choose a monitor and I get demotivated constantly by reading glow, black light bleeding, gamma shift, ghosting etc issues

The monitor would be mainly for gaming for all kinds of games, but I do watch movies on my pc.

I do have some monitors in my mind that dont cost a fortune in where I live, but, If There are monitors that are really that better and worth, I'd put my max at around 600 eur. Otherwise so far these are my picks That are available in my country.

Dell s2719dgf around 390 eur, sadly TN panel

Samsung c27hg70 450 eur, I wanted to buy this, but the stand is terrible for me, also not sure of curved monitors, so Its probably a no go

Acer Vg270 or 271UP 450 and 500 eur, cant find AVHA version in my country, only innolux ips

Acer XV272UP 460 eur

Hi, first time posting here and searched the subreddit and noticed this wasn't asked.

Why is the G-Sync Module preferred over a monitor just being G-Sync compatible even if Nvidia specifically says that it's compatitble? I understand it's G-sync at a hardware level rather than Nvidia graphics cards interpolating Adaptive Sync/Freesync monitors but what is the thing that actually turns people off compatible monitors (more asking as I'm interested in purchasing the new LG 27GL850 and noticed it was originally having a module but now doesnt).

Side Note: I currently have an LG 24GM77. Should I wait for the new LG I mentioned above or should I just go for the Acer 27" 1440p 144hz IPS? I game quite a lot and mostly play ffxiv (MMORPG) and do a light bit of content creation every now and then.

It's currently on Bestbuy and Amazon for respectively 699.99 and 749.99 CAD, the MSRP is 699.

Release date according to BestBuy is August 7. Amazon currently says it'll ship in 1-2 months.

The first 200 preorders will also receive Rainbow 6 Gold Edition, lowest price 34.18 CAD from a month ago.

Will run from 21 to Aug 3. Link to the promo.

Doesn't seem to be a great deal compared to the 432 Euro on Amazon.de, though you can take that with a grain of salt since I'm not familiar with Canadian pricing.
