So, hitting one million subscribers completely snuck up on us. To start a bit of celebration, we're having another round of Submit a Banner! (last time was 3 years ago) If you've been on the classic reddit design with our CSS, you'll have likely noticed over your time here that there are a number of banners on the subreddit that loads randomly. You can see our full list here including sources and who made them. Since it's been a while, it's about time we add some banners to the rotation. The submission guidelines are pretty much the same as last time!
So when submitting a banner, try to include the following information and requirements.
Submit a Banner Guidelines
Banner Size is 169px tall and is set to float right. Banner aligns to the right side of the screen so overflow will go off of the left side. Also, please be mindful to not have super extended banners that fly off to the left, and don't expect the left side to always show as various users have different monitor sizes. A good range is around 1920px according to /u/errorcache. Example - Float Right Reminder
Bottom left corner is reserve for our snoo. Just above it is the /r/Manga button which is also clickable. So be careful when designing your banner as whatever is there will get covered up.
Be Creative. Don't only use the popular series everyone knows. Use this chance to try and recommend series you like to people. It's better to have 36 unique banners with little overlap than 36 banners with just the same re-arranged characters. We (mods) actually enjoy seeing when people make a post asking for the source of a banner. Cause that pretty much always equals one new reader.
It has to be Safe For Work. Don't want to have to set the subreddit to 18+ only. (No gore too please.)
No Spoilers in the banner.
Include sources. Please include the list of series when submitting your banner(s). Chapter and page numbers would also be nice for better organization but not required. We'll be including the sourcing for all your banners in the wiki. In addition, come up with a name for your banner. Otherwise, our crackpot team of naming specialists will try their hardest which none of us want to see~
Giveaway
Working on setting up a giveaway, I still have a large stockpile of manga/anime posters which only a handful were shipped away during the 100k/Christmas Giveaway two years ago. The collection also grows as each year passes and I continue to attend Sakura-con which happens to start tomorrow. So I'll have to do an updated list at some point. We can also always send some manga around using the magic of Book Depository or Amazon.
But yea, details are still being worked on with how much money I can blow sending manga/posters to random people from the internet~
This week = the one that ends/ended right now, past seven days.
The reason for this thread's existence is the fact that both requests and suggestions became kind of stale. It's supposed to bring out more manga that is not RTed or recommended. Also, it's quite useful for the discussion of not so current titles.
Previous weeks: First 72 weeks and from June 28, 2015 onwards.
Also, not a rule or any kind of criticism, the more interesting part is not the list of the stuff you read, but your impressions of it.
Lastly, don't forget to use spoiler tags and to make sure to report any untagged spoilers.
