about

aboombong presents ~ articulations: poems, polemics, & pop songs.

"I am interested in that which lies beyond behind and beneath the perceived visual realm of experience." -Raul Dorn

Raul Dorn is an award-winning painter (www.saatchiart.com/rauldorn), visual artist, educator, and poet from southern New Mexico who has mentored and inspired hundreds of artists in the area's thriving arts scene. Raul has also been a dynamic performance artist for decades, fronting area bands since the 1980's. He is currently the lead singer for the electro-grunge duo Sister Black Lagoon.

For "articulations" aboombong provided Raul with seven musical canvases on which to paint his unique perspective through words and voice. A revival of a collaboration started more than 30 years ago, this release manages to be both nostalgic and forward looking. Enjoy.

Track Name: My Life in the Garden of Belief
Get a glimpse of the dream
hold on tight to the bill of rights
before we come apart at the seams
we gotta take this trash out
focus less on the cash out
foolin’ some of the people all the time!
It’s way past you doin’ the crime
I see the writin’ on the wall
the tea leaves begin to crawl
for the slipperiest criminal of them all
a serpent of a man
who sides with the Ku Klux Klan
no more buyin’ and a sellin’
buckets dry in our wells
but you got chandeliers in the lobby
grabbin’ pussy for a hobby
you got no reverence for this land
you got no reverence for its people
they murdering us in our schools
and under the steeple
nationalistic and fascistic
narcissistic and sadistic
tiny hand on the button
jonesin’ for goin’ ballistic
authoritarian & un-American
it’s taking its toll
its taking too long
why aren’t you gone...

We are brothers and sisters, I believe.
