MUD - Use Your Imagination LP 75

Got's to shout out my thanks here to Antonio at the Rocket Star Records sponsor store (new link under his card on the sidebar so you can go to their new facebook page and click on and see me on Public Access TV during record store day as I flip though the records in the background and greet people at the door) for lending me this album to record.  Would have liked to buy it but apparently all the stuff I pull out is misfiled and belongs in his collecton at home...LOL (gives me nightmares that I have some particular vinyl then I don't...aaaargh!).  Anyways quite good here--another one of those oddball 50's fringe groups ala hard rock, roller skating and punkish tunes.

HARpERS bIZARRE - Feelin' Groovy LP

Talk about your classic old songs, herein the title track rocks back quite a ways to the sixties.

VA - K-TEL presents SONGBIRD LP 81

This I'm sure was a top seller for K-Tel and definitely a defining category for the label with best of the best songwriting...kinda like the 'weekly top 7 at Radio K'.  I really had a flashback to my early days after hearing songs like "Lookin' For Love' or 'Every Woman In The World'.  Features the bands:  Air Supply, Champaign, POCO, Phoebe Snow, Tierra, Ambrosia, Don McClean, Leo Sayer, Abba, Jim Photoglo, Susan Anton And Fred Knoblock, Taylor And J.D. Souther and Terri Gibbs.

FREE SPIRIT - THEY'LL KNOW WE ARE CHRISTIANS BY OUR LOVE LP 72

Now this religious education type release was probably where the Catholic churches got a couple of their songs that I would sing weekly growing up at church or at one of our retreats to the mountains.
Love the 'Catholic Enthusiasm' while singing and also songs here that made it into church songbooks.

SOUND ALLIANCE - I WANT TO THANK YOU, JESUS LP 75

Been finding these 'Jesus' celebrated records at Good Will and with my many years of Catholic church going and a religious confirmation program ending in ninth grade that my mom ran, they can be somewhat appealing, what with all the excitement and in particular, finesse while singing.  I don't remember any songs on this one however unlike the post right above.

LEO SAYER - Silverbird LP 73 w Just A Boy LP 74 w Another Year LP 75 w Endless Flight LP 76 w Thunder In My Heart LP 77 w st LP 78 w Living In A Fantasy LP 80 w World Radio LP 82

He wrote Roger Daltrey a hit tune for his first solo album then recorded his first album in some of his studios as well as Apple Studios of the Beatles.  You may recognize some hits like 'Long Tall Glasses' from the 1974 album with the memorable line, "You know I can't dance, you know I can't dance" or more obvious the hits on the 1976 breakout album like "You make me feel like dancing" or 'When I needed you".

THE VENTURES - Rock And Roll Forever LP 78

With such a huge collection of vinyl, as you may have noticed, I like to pick out oddball Ventures records to rip that aren't just the standard surf tunes.  This release is pretty cool with some redone rock and roll tunes and it's on another great old Minneapolis record label (e.g. Ronco, K-Tel) called Pickwick.  This Pickwick release happened to be in mint condition (most are popular and beat up).

IRON FIST - Demo - CrucifyMe w Live at Wilebskis Blues Saloon St Paul MN 7 13 1986 w Live at the Cabooze Minneapolis MN 1 27 1987

REPOST Request:   This is a timely 'SPOT ON' request as last week I learn from a facebook group that our old Mpls. public assess channel 2 KTCA (PBS) is working on (finally!) a documentary movie on our little Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN) early Hardcore Punk Rock scene, with Todlachen, Final Conflict, Husker Du, Loud Fast Rules, Outcry, Red Meat, Ankle Chop, Blue Hippos, Otto's Chemical Lounge, Replacements, Boy Elroy, Willful Neglect and this band Iron Fist!
I know there are some old scenesters that may see this like who did the MNPUNK website or others like 'Oak Tree' a tall dude I remember or the dude that spawned the shirt 'I'd Break My Neck To See Die Kreuzen' and they follow up on this guy in the promo here as he recovered usage of his limbs after the slam pit injury.  You got's to hear this link:  https://www.tptoriginals.org/the-decline-of-midwestern-civilization/?fbclid=IwAR2c6CHYOETbtUGMUluetWqhVG3IHbgvNgPqov2JPvrOGrnHv0CGYDbDcx0
They still need contributors is why I mention it so please contact or send them stuff.  Can't wait!  They actually have Lori Barbero from Babes In Toyland who is thanked on this Iron Fist demo!  Also has Ollie Stench in the preview commenting as he later became singer for this band.

Very cool and interesting concept album that remnds me a bit of the Crusader's Street Life which is the longest song they ever played on the Back In The Days Of Soul playlist of hit songs.
