Think Mark Field will face some serious questions about the way he handled this.

In this longer version of the video, you can see the woman apparently posing no immediate threat as she passes behind Mark Field. He marches her out of the room by her neck. I wasn’t there, so I can’t say she didn’t pose a risk, but it looks heavy handed.pic.twitter.com/zX2BtcPW4t

Mark Field is currently Foreign Office Minister for Asia and the Pacific. Before becoming an MP he was, erm, a solicitor.

Which also means Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt is his boss. An interesting question for him tomorrow in his first day campaigning for the vote of Tory members... should Mark Field resign?

Goes without saying we have tried to contact Mark Field to hear his account of events. There are always two sides to a story etc. Let’s see what he has to say, as we are only going by one short clip.

One last thought on this... if ever there was an image that sums up the Conservative Party’s disconnect with the younger generation right now it’s a man in black tie at an elite dinner grabbing a climate change protestor by her neck.

Considering a man was charged with throwing milkshake over farage this is outright assault I hope the
@metpoliceuk will be investigating this -
Yeah but Milkshake Guy isn't a Tory MP. Made of teflon, that lot.
-
would
@Jeremy_Hunt like his wife to handled like that now lets see what the candidates in the tory party leadership stand for will the sack him or is assault acceptable because he is tory -
She broke the law by breaking and entering a private function without invitation. End of.

Someone can use force if they genuinely believed they or others were in peril. How is that a case of genuinely believing he was in peril? He’s what, 14 stone man against a 9/10 stone unarmed woman? Plus it’s not his residence.
-
I wonder if he would have reacted the same if it was a 6’ 6 built like a brick outhouse man and not a woman...
-
Highly unlikely, silencing women have always been a far easier task due to their usually slighter physic.

Come on. If you gatecrash an event you’ve got to expect that you may meet reasonable force in being ejected.
-
That wasn't reasonable
-
It was very reasonable. She’ll be able to walk away injury free. You see far worse in pubs every weekend.
-
You can’t grab people by the neck like that. Much too aggressive
-
Yes you can. It's a pressure hold. The police do it all the time to restrain people.
-
He is not police
-
Was he heavy handed? Yes. Was it needed? Evidently not (Seeing as there was no weapon on untoward intentions) but did he know that at the time? Most probably not.
-
He has no idea if she is armed. Given the amount of stabbings and other attacks taking place in this country, if we are at a point where we see more faults with that politician than the intruder, then we are on dangerous ground. He did not John Prescott her in the face.
