About eligibility for Twitter Ads

Twitter accounts must meet certain criteria in order to be eligible to participate in Twitter Ads and use Twitter's suite of advertising products. This policy sets out how advertisers can meet Twitter’s eligibility requirements. This policy applies to all advertisers. 

Twitter Ads Policy

For an account to be eligible for Twitter Ads it should comply with all Twitter Ads Policies. Please note that some policies may have additional eligibility requirements.

Account Status

  • New accounts: New accounts will be held in review for a period before they can begin advertising with Twitter Ads. 
  • Public tweets: Tweets from an advertiser account must be public. To amend this setting see the "About public and protected Tweets" page. 
  • Deactivated accounts: An advertiser  cannot participate in Twitter Ads if they have deactivated their Twitter account. Please go here for more details on reactivating an account.
  • Suspended accounts: An advertiser cannot participate in Twitter Ads if their Twitter account is in a suspended state. Please go here for more details.

Quality 

For an account to be eligible for Twitter ads it should comply with the Twitter ads quality policy, specifically:

  • the account must have a profile image and it should not be a gif 
  • the account must have a header image and it should not be a gif 
  • the account must have a website in the bio
  • the website in the bio should be functional and should not require the user to sign up in order to access the content
  • the website in the bio should represent  the brand, product or service being promoted

Trade Restrictions 

Twitter prohibits advertisements targeted to, and advertiser accounts from, countries subject to US trade sanctions and other US export control laws. Individuals and entities subject to US trade sanctions are also prohibited from signing up for a Twitter Ads account. Among them:

  • Cuba
  • North Korea
  • Iran
  • Sudan
  • Syria
