Rich Kids - 23rd June 2016 - O2 Academy, Islington, London - An Acid Drops exclusive recording

So here's the one you've all been waiting for. Rich Kids reunion gig from the Double Header along with The Professionals.

This is the first time the band have performed together since Steve New's passing back in 2010.

Two new members joined the band in the form of Spandau Ballet Legend Gary Kemp on guitar and James Hallawell on keyboards.

A great performance from a very much under rated band. I truly hope they do more shows together.

above - Glen & me before the show

Recorded by myself

An exclusive to Acid Drops and not currently available anywhere else on the internet.

Artwork included, created by myself.

Feel free to share this anywhere you want, a note of credit to myself would be appreciated though. Thank You!

The Professionals - 23rd June 2016, O2 Academy, Islington, London - An Acid Drops exclusive recording

Last night saw the long awaited double header featuring 2 ex Sex Pistols. Glen Matlock with Rich Kids and Paul Cook with The Professionals.

The weather in London was awful but that didn't stop an almost full house from turning up and watching the show.

First on stage at 8pm were the Professionals. They played an amazing set and the crowd loved them. There is no Steve Jones (as we know) and Tom Spencer is no substitute. He really is a great artist. He put in a very strong vocal performance all night with some nice crowd banter. The group played well together and delivered everything I would want to see in a Professionals set.

A new song, New Generation, was performed and its a new classic. Very characteristic of The Professionals sound that we all know & love.

On a side note it was mentioned that they are working on new recordings and these have been sent over to L.A. for Steve to work on....so Jonesy is still involved in the band in some way. Excellent news!

Highlight of the night - the final song - Silly Thing. A total crowd pleaser.

Anyway I recorded the show and here it is for you all to enjoy!

This is an exclusive here on Acid Drops and is so far not available anywhere else.

Please share it freely, a credit would be appreciated if posting it elsewhere

PIL - 15th June 2016, Concorde 2, Brighton - An Acid Drops Exclusive recording

This was a really good gig, PIL were amazing on the night (but I would say that wouldn't I)

The Concorde 2 venue really suits PIL, it has a great sound and always sells out.

Well this gig was recorded by myself. I finally decided to get proactive, I only bought my Tascam DR 05 the day before so I just recorded the show with the settings that it came with. Its not perfect but its not bad for a first attempt.

This recording is only available here on Acid Drops for you all.

Also comes with CD artwork created by myself - I hope you enjoy it

Sad Vacation - crowd funding for Sid & Nancy doc

The makers of the new Sid & Nancy doc need a bit of support to help get this great project completed. Please think about donating some money (even if only a small amount) to help get this great project completed.

"Sad Vacation" is the latest documentary film by Danny Garcia (The Rise and Fall of The Clash/Looking for Johnny), which explores Sid and Nancy's fateful trip to New York in 1978. It is a film that is dedicated to presenting the real facts; told as it happened by their friends and those who witnessed it. A film about the dynamics of Sid and Nancy's tumultuous relationship, and how it all ended in Room 100 of the Chelsea Hotel.

Sugar Rush Rocks - these kids have talent

Not PIL related but I'd like to publicise a group of youngsters in America, who are very talented.

The group is called Sugar Rush Rocks.

Guitar druid Michael was eight and RJ was nine when they formed their rock/alternative band Sugar Rush Rocks.

Michael Sebastian, lead guitarist for Sugar Rush Rocks

"We always dreamed of playing music.  When we would get together to jam we had so much fun we wanted to just keep playing," says Michael.

Today 12-year-old Michael and 13-year-old RJ together with 13-year-old Jake Brightman on bass and 16-year old Joey Fattore on rhythm guitar comprise the band and they’re starting to cultivate quite a following in the northeastern part of America.

Joey, RJ, Jake, and Michael participate in a quick band conference before a recent gig.

"Music is everything to me.  Drums for life, life for drums," says RJ.

RJ and Jake - The rhythm section:  Practice makes perfect.

Michael and RJ recently wrote the music for their  first original tune.  They intend to create more original music and hopefully record their first release in the near future – and of course continue playing gigs.

“I’d love to play live in Europe some day.  I’m really interested in Germany and of course England,” Michael states.

Keep your eyes and ears on Sugar Rush Rocks.  These kids are going places.
