What happened to the old site?
We are pleased to advise that 7NEWS and 7Sport’s online properties are now fully operated by Seven West Media.
I have the 7NEWS app on my phone. Is this still in use?
The old 7NEWS app will no longer be populated with new 7NEWS content.

Yes, all content on 7NEWS.com.au is free to access*

Will I see advertising on the site?
Yes, in order to keep bringing you Australia’s best breaking news content for free, 7NEWS is an ad-supported service. 
What are the minimum requirements to access 7NEWS.com.au?
You must be in Australia and using a supported browser. We recommend a minimum internet data speed of at least 3Mbps to ensure standard quality on video streaming.  
Is streaming on 7NEWS.com.au unmetered?
No, streaming is metered and will incur data charges as per your mobile / home internet plan. 7NEWS.com.au uses adaptive streaming that automatically adjusts the quality of the video based on the quality of your internet connection.

I have a fast-broadband connection, why am I still having issues?
There can be several reasons as to why you may experience buffering issues when streaming video. Try switching to another internet connection such as an alternate Wi-Fi network or via mobile broadband. If you continue to see issues, then you may have interference on your connection or your Internet Service Provider may be slowing access to certain services.  
 
If you are using a mobile device, please ensure you are running the latest version of the browser and that there aren’t any apps running in the background. If you are using a computer browser, please ensure it has been updated to the latest version or alternatively try a different browser such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Mozilla Firefox to see if the experience changes.

Can I watch 7NEWS.com.au video in HD?
Most 7NEWS.com.au video is available in HD quality. We cannot guarantee that any user-generated content that is used on the site will necessarily be available in HD.
Why is my stream constantly buffering (starting/stopping)?
7NEWS.com.au uses adaptive streaming technology to automatically adjust the quality of your streaming to suit your internet speed and the capability of your device. For an optimal experience, we recommend a minimum internet data speed of at least 3Mbps or above.  
 
To check your internet speed, please visit 
speedtest.net. This site allows you to see your download and upload speeds; the higher the number, the better the speed. If the issues are consistent, it may be worth contacting your internet service provider. This issue can occur for several reasons. These reasons include:

  • Other users on your network sharing the internet connection

  • Wireless internet connections can get interrupted resulting in playback issues (speak with your ISP if you notice any ongoing issues). 

Why does the ad play but not the video itself?
Please ensure that you are connecting via an Australian internet connection and that you do not have any VPN or Proxy Services running. If other live streams and video content plays apart from one or more specific pieces of content, please get in touch with specific details of the issue and affected content, and our support team will look into this further.

If the issue occurs on all content and you are connecting from within Australia, please try connecting to a different network to check if this issue is specific to your connection. If this is the case, please let us know and our trusty support team will work with you and your internet service provider to troubleshoot further.

Why can't I get any of the videos to play?
The 7NEWS.com.au site requires an Australian Internet Connection to view our video. If you reside within Australia and are still experiencing issues, try connecting to a different network to test if this resolves your issue. If this is the case, please let us know and our friendly support team will work with you and your internet service provider to troubleshoot further.
