    Lu is elected, with the entirety of the left bloc abstaining. They appear to want to elect another person, but are passing this through to avoid a bureaucratic impasse. The same for the election of the ELA. Meeting closed.

    A brief glimpse into EO candidate Lu's AskFM reveals a candidate with ambiguous political motives/unclear values who has used this to their advantage, spending time building experience with the independent AEC, USU and SRC elections.

    Luo notes Lu’s involvement in several forms of election: state, federal, and even USU. He argues that Lu was selected by previous EO, Karen Chau. Stricter-Phelps suggests that Lu come and speak to his nomination. Lara Sonnenschein jokingly suggests that he “Skype in”

    Donohoe argues that the appointment of Lu, or of any EO, is not a matter of urgency at the current time. He notes Luo’s comment on an Honi article about tonight’s meeting, where Luo indicates that the SRC’s monetary status is not at stake:

    President He gives the electoral report. He notes the electoral committee has recommended Casper Lu as their candidate. Honi understands that Luo and He were both to some extent conflicted off that decision making process. A motion to accept the recommendation is being discussed

    Lily Campbell (SAlt) speaks on the presence of prospective EO, Caspar Lu, to VP Luo’s 2017 ‘Vision for 1st Years’ ticket. The left bloc also think Lu is too young at 20 to oversee the SRC election, and that there’s a conflict of interest as he an undergraduate student at USyd

    Secretary to Council Julia Robins advises that tonight’s meeting would not impact the undertakings of meetings such as RepsElect, which is not technically a meeting of the council but of newly elected representatives

    The left bloc’s prevailing argument against electronic attendance is that it erodes the requirement of physical attendance for more important meetings such as RepSelect. Other councillors such as James Ardouin “just want to have an election”

    9 of the left bloc oppose proxies entering meeting via Skype and/or phone calls, they succeed. There is a motion put forward to do a quorum count in 30 minutes, which has no outcome. VP Luo urges the left bloc to allow calls and Skype.
