About Us

TheocracyWatch raises awareness about the pervasive role of the Religious Right in the U.S. government. It disseminates information through its website,speakers bureau, powerpoint presentations, CDs – both audio and PowerPoint – and DVDs. It also conducts interviews with the media.

Joan Bokaer – an educator, is founder of TheocracyWatch and the principal author of this web site.

Rev. James K. Boodley – an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, past member of the TheocracyWatch board, and currently serving as contributing clergy.

Chip Gagnon, Researcher – an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Politics at Ithaca College. His teaching and research are in the area of international relations. His particular interest is the ways in which right-wing forces construct a fear of others – both internal and external others – to impose their agendas on populations.

Ed Siemon, Treasurer – oversees finances. He also develops the TheocracyWatch mailing list from names gathered through the website and at presentations.

Nancy Siemon, Secretary – Both Ed and Nancy Siemon are members of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship. Ms. Siemon teaches mathematics at Tompkins Cortland Community College.
