On CD, this album was packaged with their 1981 EP, Pickpocket. The band hailed from Manchester, England and featured female lead singer Linder Sterling.
On this date in 1981, The Gun Club released their debut album, Fire Of Love. It contained the single, "Sex Beat".
On this date in 1982, The Gun Club released their second single, "Fire Of Love". Ironically, the song did not appear on their debut album, Fire Of Love. It was on their second album, Miami. The B side of the single, "Walking With The Beast", did not appear on either album.
The Gun Club was part of the Los Angeles scene along with 45 Grave, The Cramps and X. They were part blues-influenced horror punk, part psychobilly. Distinctive lead singer Jeffrey Lee Pierce died of a brain hemorrhage in 1996.

The band lasted two albums (the second, a semi-compilation) before the overdose death of singler Malcolm Owen. They tried to carry on under a new name, Ruts DC, with very limited success.

On this date in 1981, G.G. Allin released his third single, "Gimme Some Head". It was backed by "Dead Or Alive". His backing group for this single was the MC2 (Wayne Kramer and Dennis Thomspon of The MC5). Both tracks appeared on his debut album, Always Was, Is, And Always Shall Be. The Bostonian was born Jesus Christ Allin and was famous for his outrageous stage antics. He once promised to commit suicide onstage but that did not happen. Instead, he died of an overdose in 1993 well away from the stage.
