The people losing their jobs in Aust Higher Ed are being called ‘non-essential’. Try getting anything done without these absolutely essential folks at a University: “research assistants, student support service staff, library workers and IT staff”.

When the last Liberal Prime Minister agrees with me that the Murdoch media functions like a political party, there's a clear case for to examine whether News Corp should be registered as a Liberal Party "associated entity". Same scrutiny was demanded of .

A tax levy? Why not just forego the tax cuts that have yet to come in place which will mostly cover the entire cost in 10 years. (ie about the same length of time as from the GFC till now)

These are big decisions that transcend normal politics. We're talking about national survival here. What recessions do to countries, if they're deep and prolonged, is simply hideous.

The article is horse shit. The virus has exposed every flaw in the global economy. Flawed tax systems. Flawed health systems. Flawed politicians and flawed businesses....Zero distribution of wealth. Nowhere has any organisation or govt put anything aside for ‘a rainy day’.

is a lot worse for children's future than protecting their grandparents. They won't have a planet to live on if we continue with business as usual. This should be a time to reflect on what needs to change and how, not about how to return to 'normal'.

we mortgaged our children's future when we embraced the monster of neoliberal capitalism (quite literally when you consider climate change). And we're also protecting the health of the disabled and immunocompromised - we exist yet are always forgotten in these conversations

We can’t let this become just another statistic. 10 per cent unemployment means 1.4 million out of work. Each of them has bills to pay. Many of them have families to support. These are the people I’m fighting for.
