Crash near Bundaberg kills three, injures two as Queensland road toll climbs

Three people have been killed and two injured after three vehicles crashed at South Bingera, near Bundaberg, on Sunday morning.

The crash happened on Childers Road just after 9:00am.
Paramedics described the collision between the cars as a "significant impact" in a 100kph zone.
Police said a sedan veered into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with another car before rolling and striking a tree.
It was then hit by a third car driving behind it.
The driver of the sedan, a 60-year-old man, died at the scene.
The 62-year-old female driver of the second car, and her 63-year-old female passenger, were also killed.
A 65-year-old man travelling in the same car who was trapped in the wreckage was taken to hospital with a serious head injury.
A 40-year-old woman who was driving the third car was also taken to hospital with back pain.
Senior Constable Lee Chamberlain said the Forensic Crash Unit was investigating how the crash unfolded.
"It's just a catastrophic incident," he said.
"It's difficult for all emergency responders to be involved in dealing with incidents such as this.
"We'll be looking at the roads, the vehicles involved and the drivers' actions."
Childers Road was closed at the crash site with diversions in place.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area, with the road expected to be closed for several hours.
There have now been 16 deaths on Queensland roads since Monday.
A 14-year-old boy was killed after a car allegedly being driven by another teenage boy hit a traffic light pole.
Another crash in which four children and their mother died is being investigated by homicide detectives.
State Government Minister Anthony Lynham said it was another tragedy.
"It's been a terrible week for Queenslanders and Queensland families," he said.
"Please, please, safety is just so important on the roads. Don't be distracted. Don't drive while tired."
Deputy Opposition Leader Tim Mander said it had been a "tragic week for Queenslanders".
