We are looking for people to donate directly to the creation and promotion of new Australian writing.

Going Down Swinging is where the fierce, fresh writing lives. Here you will find regular opinion columns, feature pieces, discussions and debates. Here new stories will struggle to their feet. There will be works in progress, anecdotes, forgotten publications and true gems from the Going Down Swinging back catalogue that has accrued over 37 years. 

What do we do?

Going Down Swinging works across platforms to produce high quality publications and events that support writers and artists telling stories worth sharing.

Going Down Swinging is one of Australia's longest-running and most respected literary journals: publishing print and audio anthologies since 1979 and now producing digital editions as well as special, sold-out live events.

We believe in fostering a community of writers and artists dedicated to their craft and the ideas behind it. We encourage the creation of new work, and support this by placing great value on editorial feedback and development for those voices still emerging.

What can YOU do?

You can help us tell the stories worth telling.

• $30 pays for a Going Down Swinging edition to be sent to a library or public collection

• $50 - 150 pays for a new contribution to the website

• $250 - 500 funds  a new commissioned work for the website or print publication

• $1,500 will support the development of a new digital edition or release

• $5000 will cover a new spoken word event including the venue, paying artists and recording for CD or digital release.

• $30,000 funds a new edition of Going Down Swinging. This includes paying over 35 contributors, commissioning new works, a designer, printing the edition and releasing it into the world.
