Crowd-funding project aims to supply grain to Tasmanian farmers

A CROWD-FUNDING project established by a national volunteer network is aiming to bring in 10 containers of grain to help Tasmanian farmers battling to feed livestock because of the extreme dry.

People on and off the land can pitch in and support “GrainforTassieFarmers” project, an initiative of national movement “Shout a Mate”.

Shout a Mate founder Anita Donlon said her organisation was working with the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association and Rural Alive and Well to reach out to the broader community to support farmers.

“We have set up a crowd-funding goal to get 10 shipping containers of high grade fodder mixes that will be able to be distributed to farmers with dairy and beef cattle,” Ms Donlon said.

“We are also looking for freight partners who can provide freight free or near to at-cost.”
