Criminals jailed for prison break plan

Two of Western Australia's most dangerous criminals have been jailed for four years for plotting to escape from a maximum security jail.

Convicted murderer Wayne Robert Napier and armed robber David Graeme Hintz developed a plan whereby two other men would drive a front-end loader through the Casuarina Prison cell where Hintz and Napier were being held.

As part of the plan Napier and Hintz would then be given firearms and escape on the front-end loader to awaiting vehicles.

The plan was foiled when police found notes about the escape on another man involved in the plot.

That man, Allan Royce Dawson, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for his part in the escape plan.

A fourth man James Anderson was jailed for 20 months.
