Local Autonomous Network Statement on the Alleged Anarchist Crackdown in the Philippines

May 14th, 2020

The Local Autonomous Network (LAN) is a loose network of individuals and collectives composed of anarchist, anti-authoritarian, and autonomous activists here in the Archipelago of so-called Philippines. Since the early 2000s, the people behind the network have been consistently in contact with another regardless if they are from the southern or northern part of the Archipelago. The network has no formal membership and is presented as an informal organization. The network has its own level of understanding and trust with each other, which comes from the process of the relentless organizing, campaigning and initiating different activities and projects.

We have heard about a report published online from groups abroad about an anti-anarchist crackdown in the Philippines. The report is entitled “The Philippines—The continuing crackdown on anarchists” and was first published by the UK-based Anarchist Communist Group (ACG) and was later copied and distributed onto other international anarchist sites. Most of the people involved in Local Autonomous Network had the same reaction to this report: “this is alarming.” As this is a local matter, we decided to investigate the report and do our own research locally on what was the real situation of the anarchists on the ground.

To give context, it is true that the Duterte regime is an oppressive and repressive government, even more so than with previous presidents in previous regimes. The War on Drugs that Duterte started in 2016 and has been conducted since has killed an estimated 30,000 people; this is a fact. Some of the victims of the Extra-Judicial Killings (EJK) in the War on Drugs have been drug personalities, but hundreds of EJK victims were not even connected to any kind of drug-related issue. Continuous killings and assassinations were also conducted against leftists, dissidents, peasant leaders, community organizers, and other activists. Anarchists in the Philippines were not spared and in 2018 saw Food Not Bombs volunteers murdered and arrested. (See the report: “Four Food Not Bombs Volunteers were Killed in Philippine Drug War and One Volunteer is in Jail”.) Read the rest of this entry »

Italy: Operation Ritrovo – Seven anarchists arrested

May 14th, 2020

During the night of May 13, 2020, seven anarchists were arrested between Bologna, Milan and Tuscany, five others were required to reside in the municipality of residence and the anarchist documentation space Il Tribolo in Bologna was searched. The repressive operation, called «Ritrovo», was coordinated by the public prosecutor Stefano Dambruoso and the Carabinieri of the ROS (Raggruppamento Operativo Speciale), who carried out the arrests and searches jointly with the provincial command of the Carabinieri of Bologna.

The seven arrested are charged with article 270bis of the penal code (subversive association with the purpose of terrorism or subversion of the democratic order), the other charges relate to articles 414 (incitement to commit a crime), 639 (defacement and soiling) and 635 (damage). One person is accused of article 423 (fire) for the incendiary attack of December 16, 2018, against some telecommunications antennas located in Monte Donato in Bologna and intended for the transmission of national and local television networks. On the site was left the writing «Turn off the antennas, awaken consciences. Solidarity with the anarchists detained and under surveillance».

The repressive forces affirm that the arrested anarchists are accused of having created a subversive-terrorist association having «the objective of affirming and spreading the anarchic-insurrectionalist ideology, as well as instigating, with the diffusion of propaganda material, the commission of acts of violence against the institutions». Furthermore, the public prosecutor’s office of Bologna, with the help of the regime’s media, underlined that the precautionary measures assume a «strategic preventive value aimed at avoiding that in any further moments of social tension, arising from the particular emergency situation [linked to the coronavirus epidemic], other moments of more general anti-State struggle campaign can take place».

These are the current addresses of the arrested comrades:

We are Humyn Beings!!!

by Keith ‘Malik’ Washington

Revolutionary Greetings Fellow Workers and comrades all over the World!!

“Nothing Lasts.

Relationships end.

Friends die.

Even Capitalism will be history someday.

It’s what we do to re-awaken each other that matters.

Breathing life into self organization, the working actuality of freedom.

That’s the victory, the revolution,

The Truth of Power: That we know how to create lives worth living.

Knowing that such moments, too, won’t last.

Wuppertal, Germany: Autonomous MayDay

May 11th, 2020

Like last year, the autonomous MayDay was full of surprises! And these surprises have caught the cops off guard and we are happy about that!

It started in the night from 30.04. to 01.05. with a demonstration in the Ölberg district, accompanied by fireworks and other great lights and (sound) effects. On our way through the Elberfelder Nordstadt some neighbours at their windows celebrated with us that the 1st of May has begun. So we were able to start the day in good spirits with strike two under difficult conditions. Already with the first strike last year we could catch the cops on the wrong foot and thus trick the cop apparatus. From that point on, we managed to break through the de facto suspension of the right to demonstrate for a short time. At least for a short period of time we were able to make the darkness glow.

Firefund campaign for the financial support of Solidarity Fund for imprisoned and persecuted revolutionaries from Greece

May 11th, 2020

“In this current circumstance, especially in light of the new facts about the virus spreading and the restrictive measures imposed by the state on this occasion, it is again extremely difficult to secure the resources to support the material needs of the ones within the walls. Perhaps it is more difficult than ever. The slogan “no one left alone in the hands of the state” is becoming more crucial and tangible these days than ever. We urge you to defend it once again in practice. Factual solidarity will again be our weapon.”

https://www.firefund.net/imprisonedsoli

The Solidarity Fund for imprisoned and persecuted militants was established in 2010 in a circumstance where, on the one hand, a hard capitalist restructuring was carried out under the guise of the “economic crisis” and, on the other hand, the radical movement, having very recent memories from the experience of the social revolt of December ’08, was in full bloom. Under those circumstances, repression became even more intense, resulting in an ever-increasing number of political prisoners. It is precisely in this context that the Solidarity Fund was formed, initially setting out to provide regular and consistent support to those persecuted or imprisoned for their subversive action or for their participation in social struggles. The basic aim of the structure is to ensure decent living conditions for the imprisoned comrades through a process that would take place within the political movement; thereby taking the material dimension of solidarity a step beyond close family, friendly and comrade relationships, as well as to help with the immediate coverage of emergencies (such as court expenses and bails for the persecuted). Yet, the actions of practical solidarity and the building and development of communication bridges and united struggles between those inside prisons and those outside of it, remain as priorities of the people who form and sustain the structure. Porto, Portugal: Words from Gabriel Pombo Da Silva

May 10th, 2020

1. EN/ES: Update about the situation of Gabriel Pombo da Silva

IT | ES | FR

Translated from Italian by Act For Freedom Now!

As our comrade Gabriel hasn’t written any official communique so far, these words intend to be precisely a communique/diary and a way of sharing with people and comrades in affinity what he thinks in regard to certain questions.

Gabriel explicitly asked his comrade/partner to select the passages (from letters he sent to her) where he reflects/analyses and/or speculates on interesting issues related to the current situation: «coronavirus» in prison, his judicial situation and the circumstances of his imprisonment.

Gabriel is in good health and spirits and he’s ready for the war he’s expecting in the jails of the Spanish State. In spite of the sentence issued by the Supreme tribunal of Lisbon confirming his consignment to the Spanish State, we still don’t know whether the «authorities» will extradite him without taking into account the «state of emergency» declared following the «Covid-19» «pandemic». As a matter of fact, the «state of emergency» itself (theoretically) is preventing prisoners from being extradited to other countries as long as it lasts.

More information to follow.

Gabriel free!
All free!
Long live anarchy!

Narrm / Melbourne: Vandalism Sabotage of Estate Agent (Au$tralia)

May 10th, 2020

Real Estate Agent Evicts Traitorous Competitor (naarm/melbourne – so-called australia)

Late on the night of 4th May 2020, we Barry Plant Preston, evicted our rival real estate agents Jellis Craig Brunswick from their tenant-loving premises.

We smashed all their windows as retribution for their weak and sympathetic approach to the disgusting and dirty renters of Melbourne.

Evicting tenants and threatening them with crippling debt, is as far as Jellis Craig has gone, and we say that this is not enough!!

Only when every miserable renter is living in the streets and we are spitting in their filthy beggars cups, will we be happy.

We have taken this direct action to remind all real estate agents to not go easy on these shelter-slaves who are opportunistically taking advantage of the so-called corona virus, which we at Barry Plant Preston prefer to refer to as the free loaders disease.

Towards a world of greater authoritarianism, slavery and exploitation,

Barry Plant Preston

Greece: Worldwide Call For Solidarity to R.O-Revolutionary Struggle

May 9th, 2020

May 2020

Whenever the oppressed masses attempted the inversion of an injustice social, economical, political system, the resource to the arms and revolutionary violence has been the cornerstone of each revolutionary undertaking. It is a fact that no revolutionary process can’t reject violence as a form of struggling against the oppressors. Anarchists throughout the ages never divided the forms of struggling. For that reason Anarchism as a revolutionary movement has an unbroken and fundamental relationship with armed struggle because armed struggle springs from the roots of the lower social status and proletariat, acts for its interests, emerges as a pattern of construction with a revolutionary prospect. A revolutionary movement which respects itself, cannot exist without having a parallel path and an organic connection with the armed struggle. So we stand in solidarity with the comrades, men and women, who choose to fight also with armed struggle as urban guerillas having the analysis and strategy with main aim the creation of a society of economical equality and political freedom. We respect and support their choice especially when our comrades are still fighting for the cause of Social Revolution even in the most difficult circumstances. Two of those comrades are Pola Roupa and Nikos Maziotis , members of the Revolutionary Organization “Revolutionary Struggle”.

The comrades are imprisoned with life sentence and 27 years for Pola and 83 years (after breaking the life sentence in the 4th trial against “Revolutionary Struggle”) but they unremorsefully continue their fight in the court rooms and prisons of the Greek regime. The Revolutionary Organization “Revolutionary Struggle” was constituted in 2003 when the social and political environment in Greece was characterized by the absence of social and class resistances toward the neoliberal reforms. With the diffuse consent of the biggest part of the society, the system seemed steadfast. At this first period of action (2003 – 2007), “Revolutionary Struggle” had two main peaks of action against the imported neoliberal reforms on the political and social sphere and the “War on Terror” that had been declared by the USA and the rest of the political and economical elite of the West. Through the analyses, the strategy and the symbolically definitive high-impact blows, “Revolutionary Struggle” was directed to reveal the double nature of globalisation – political and martial- and disputed the state’s omnipotence. Guerrilla Anarchism and Its Support Base

May 9th, 2020

Guerrilla anarchism is not a populist ideology and practice-it will never be a popular one either.

Guerrilla anarchism is built on, sustained by and shielded by networks of support, not organic communities within capitalism. It will always be a minoritarian tendency, even within anarchist thought, nevermind within capitalist society.

Despite this, it plays an indispensable role in the formation and maintenance of the anarchist movement and the insurrectionary process of revolution. It forms the defence groups of the anarchist movement, its funding sources, a key propaganda tool and the forces of attack.

Its support base is both rural and urban, based out of sympathetic individuals who provide finance, transport and shelter.

Organic communities in capitalism, whether they be the local area, the workplace community, etc., will often view the anarchist guerrilla in hostile terms, and often act against the guerrilla in a negative fashion. This is the reality of the anarchist guerrilla.

That is until the mass insurrectionary process, when the community engages in a social insurrection alongside the guerrilla. Only then does the strength and necessity of the guerrilla become apparent–as the sharp edge of the social insurrection.

The guerrilla insurrectionary process

A historical example, such as the 1969 insurrection in the north of Ireland is a prime example of the minoritarian role played by the armed insurrectionist in the wider insurrection.

For most of the build up to the 1969 insurrection, the republican guerrillas were tiny groups of isolated insurrectionists, based out of support networks rather than wider community support. Only when the insurrection breaks out on a mass scale does the the community come to the guerrilla. Read the rest of this entry »

[Prisiones chilenas] Movilización en la Cárcel de Alta Seguridad ante el contexto de la pandemia

May 9th, 2020

To Be Released

May 9th, 2020

Weeks after our initial incarceration we are finally being released, little by little. Released, we say, because very few stayed indoors of their own accord. Of course some did, but most had no choice. Media hysteria censured of any alternative, fines, police intimidation and beatings are enough to keep even the most rebellious souls locked up. The monster came out of the mist only to retreat again, no one knowing when it might return to rear its ugly head.

Yet, here in southern Europe, we were not abandoned during quarantine. Not forgotten like the dead. Carrefour kept its shelves stocked. If one persisted toilet paper could be found and hoarded. Amazon never let us down, but at $10,000 a second that’s hardly surprising. Orange supplied in times of need, but with society’s upsurge in demand on telecommunications an upgrade from this archaic 4G is essential. In a period of hibernation, as they have chosen to label it, big industry enjoyed a midnight feast while the others were forced to sleep. It would appear that Holzmann’s ‘creative destruction’ is exactly what we’re witnessing: a good old deep clean, forcing the clutter into the corners to make space for the elegant new furniture.

The scientific bombardment shows little sign of slowing up. The facts, figures, graphs, lofty titles and even heftier wallets continue to force upon us a story that must be accepted. Our ideas, experiences and lives are nothing but fake news in a New Normality where the only trustworthy sources are the party-pledges of our favorite periodicals. Everyone’s got an opinion yet to refuse the transcribed plot is to be in support of murder. Numbers skyrocketed, then relaxed, but death continues to rain down, yet all we see on the bleak walk to the shop and back are the faces we once smiled at, averting our gaze.

The life we are now living was drawn from a model that transitioned us from fascism, says the cop, gun pressed gently into the lower back. We’re lucky to have had this time together, says the husband, brushing his wife’s hair across the bruise beneath her eye. Many countries won’t have had the privileges granted to us, announces the director of an NGO, looking out of his window over the Madrid skyline. Read the rest of this entry »
