Welcome to Fork the System - a communal space, named after an upcoming Al Jazeera digital series, where we dig deep into the meat (or [artichoke] heart, if you’re vegetarian) of what food reveals about our humanity and the politics behind it.
How has colonialism impacted food? What does food birthed from conflict look like? This group is for people whose interest in food deepens past the instagrammable and are curious in participating in conversations and shaping content around how food is an integral part of our relationship to the world today. This group will also be a space where the creators of the upcoming mini Al Jazeera series, Fork the System, can share their journey this summer as they explore the politics through food in Asia. This group will encourage feedback and tips on the stories that are being covered by the show, as well as encourage members to share their own stories related to food.
Please note that this group is primarily for general discussions, and our team won’t be able to engage with every individual post.
This group is moderated by Al Jazeera Engagement Producers and producers HyoJin Park and Joi Lee. We’re here to engage with you and to ensure that you feel empowered to communicate in a safe environment. That’s why we have developed a set of Community Standards that outline what is and is not allowed on Facebook.
The following is not permitted, posts and members may be removed if guidelines aren’t followed:
- Offensive content or language
- Personal attacks or threats to community members
- Not disclosing conflicts of interest
- Content created for the sole purpose of advertising or other commercial purposes
Golden Tip:
- Add context to your posts. Let us know why you’ve shared it - including a short note is always helpful.
