Flowers Fill Ani Yudhoyono's Residence to Welcome Her Arrival

  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hundreds of flower wreaths for Ani Yudhoyono filled the complex of Puri Cikeas, the residence of the family of Sixth Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), today, June 1. It lined up from the gate to the house.

    The mourners one by one coming to the location even though the body of the former Indonesian First Lady is expected to arrive on Saturday night at 23:00.

    West Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Rudy Sufahriadi has coordinated with the Jakarta Metro Police for the security measure following Kristiani Herrawati or Ani Yudhoyono's arrival.

    "We've set the security by maximizing our personnel and we're also coordinating with the Jakarta Metro Police," Rudy said in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, June 1.

    He explained that there is a change of time of Ani's arrival in Jakarta. "The plan is tomorrow but then it is changed to tonight at around 23:00," Rudy said.

    Ani was diagnosed with blood cancer and was treated at National University Hospital, Singapore since February. Her health worsened on Wednesday, May 29, and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) before previously showed an improvement.

    The body of the former First Lady is currently placed at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore.

    Ani Yudhoyono will be buried at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery, South Jakarta, with a military ceremony on June 2.
