I joined the Navy on December 7, 2001- just two months after the 9/11 attacks. I served for about 5 years as a Cryptologic Linguist, fluent in Persian-Farsi and Afghan Dari. I joined IVAW after the experiences during my military service opened my eyes to the corruption within our government and after I saw the manner of morally reprehensible actions that were being carried out. I am compelled to fight for the freedom and fair treatment of all humankind, not just the citizens of my own country.
