Mazda Australia has announced some subtle updates for the Mazda 6 mid-sizer, just 12 months after the refreshed model went on sale Down Under.

Headlining changes include the standard inclusion of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, tyre pressure monitoring, and the company's enhanced G-Vectoring Control Plus torque vectoring system first seen on the updated CX-5 – which has an added 'direct yaw movement control' function to help the steering return to the straight-ahead position "for more stable behaviour at high speeds".

According to the company, it has also enhanced the audio system across the range thanks to a second antenna being added, which cancels out noise generated by secondary wave interference. The top-spec Atenza grade also gains a heated steering wheel.

The outgoing model's 2.2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine has also being dropped, leaving the Mazda 6 family as a petrol-only proposition for the first time in this generation.

Sport and Touring grades get the familiar 140kW/252Nm 2.5-litre atmo four, driving the front wheels via a six-speed automatic as standard. Opting for the GT and Atenza variants brings a 170kW/420Nm 2.5-litre turbo four, which also drives the front wheels via a six-speed auto 'box.

Pricing is also up across the range, with the entry-level Sport now kicking off at $34,490 plus on-road costs, $2000 dearer than the MY18 entry point.

The revised Mazda 6 range is on sale now.
