You realize that democratized access to space leads to asteroid mining, which leads to abundant commodities, which leads to the end of “capitalism” right?
-

-
Or, y'know, capitalism's unmitigated expansion as those resources mined from asteroids are also siphoned upwards to those who already have more than they could ever hope to spend. We already have abundance, it's just wasted on the rich or thrown out to protect commodity value.
-
Unfortunately we have a finite planet and very serious resource distribution challenges. Space is critical for getting us to the next step imo.
-
If you think billionaires mining asteroids will abolish capitalism & hierarchy out of the kindness of their hearts, you are either mendacious or incredibly naive. What happened when Europe colonized the Americas? Also, by "democratized" you mean "billionaire-led," right? Ugh.
-
Seriously, how stupid is it to give carte blanche to a man who got rich at our expense on the premise that he'll abolish capitalism? Commodities have been "abundant" since the Fordist compromise without that inhibiting capitalism or leading to everyone getting what they need.
-
Trying to leverage the ecological crisis and "resource distribution challenges" that capitalism **caused** to urge people to support the latest capitalist resource extraction campaign is repugnant. Mark my words, asteroid mining will benefit Bezos & the police state, not us.

I was thinking about the pyramid scheme comparison recently. Pyramid schemes are hated for their predatory and explorative practices but nobody makes the connection that that's how Capitalism functions as well.

Then Why has Mozart or Einstein's standard of living (and access to knowledge, art, music, and music, and ability to disseminate their works) been spread to billions via capitalism?
-
Mozart & Einstein would tell you that the important thing is not just to consume commodities, but to have the opportunity to produce things of true value to humanity. Today most people must serve as cogs in someone else's profit scheme just to survive. So much wasted potential.
-
Also, the standard of living hasn't been raised by capitalism alone, but moreso by the struggles of workers. And the biosphere was in much better condition in Mozart's & Einstein's time. Industrialism is ruining the source of all life, a common treasury we all share.

So if I grow a lettuce for $2 and sell it for $2.20, I'm a fraudster?
-
If you think you've just made a good argument in favor of a system that makes some people billionaires while keeping billions of people poor, then yes, you're a fraudster, though you may only be defrauding yourself.
-
What's your alternative? Genuinely curious.

In capitalism, the producers can own the means of production. Eg, I own a computer and I produce an income on it every day. So how is this a pyramid scheme according to anarchists? Also, if I refuse to share the fruits of my labour, how would you make me in this free society?
-
1st, unless you're self employed (which most people aren't & shouldn't need to be to enjoy the full value of their labor), its the business that sells the service you provide on the computer that is the means of production.
-
I own a computer and every day I write code, which my boss then takes and sells for $250/hr. He gives me a fraction of this and keeps most of it for himself & the business. If the people who did the work controlled the business, they could distribute this money amongst themselves
-
2nd, if you don't want to participate in a mutual economy, no one's gonna force you. but i imagine that eventually you would want to since you can't eat the computer or the money you made with it
