An earthquake with a magnitude as high as 8.0 stuck northern Peru in the early hours of Sunday morning, multiple outlets reported. No injuries have been reported so far.

Major earthquake in Peru. Woke up with bed shaking, light fixture swaying in Lima, where everything seems OK. Epicenter ~700km away in Peruvian Amazon (Loreto state, I think). Reports of 8.0 (USGS). People saying extended shaking felt from Bogotá to Ica to Cuenca. Quite scary.
