Christopher Howard Long (born March 28, 1985) is an American football defensive end for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Virginia, where he was recognized as a unanimous All-American, and was drafted by the Rams second overall in the 2008 NFL Draft.
Long was born in Santa Monica, California. He attended St. Anne's-Belfield School in Charlottesville, Virginia. As a senior in 2003 he was in on 91 tackles, 23 tackles for a loss, and 15 sacks helping his team to an undefeated record and the state private-school championship. “He was a big gangly kid who had yet to grow into his body,” said John Blake, the St. Anne’s-Belfield coach. “But he jumped in with both feet. When he played tackle, he would drive kids 10 or 15 yards down the field, like he was steering a car.”
Long had the rare distinction of having his jersey retired at St. Anne's-Belfield School. He was given a 4-star ranking for college recruiting from Rivals.com, a service that rated him the sixth-best defensive end in the prep ranks. He played in the 2004 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Christopher Michael Long (born 25 February 1995 in Huyton) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Burnley. He is a product of the Everton academy. Long has represented England from U16 to U20 level.
A forward, Long grew up in Huyton and represented the town at schoolboy level. Long joined the Everton academy as a five-year-old in 2000 and worked his way up through the youth ranks. He made his debut for the Toffees' youth team in a 2–1 Premier Academy League defeat to Bolton Wanderers on 5 February 2011, coming on as a late substitute for Hallam Hope. He broke into the youth team of a regular basis during the 2011–12 season, impressing after scoring 9 goals in 17 games. Long also made his reserve team debut during the season, scoring one goal in seven Premier Reserve League appearances. He signed a two-year professional contract in July 2013. After steady progress in the reserves and a goal for the first team in a 3–1 pre-season friendly defeat to Paderborn in August 2014, Long received his maiden call into the senior squad for Everton's dead rubber Europa League group stage match versus Krasnodar on 11 December. Awarded the number 41 shirt, he made his Everton debut when he came on for Conor McAleny after 80 minutes of the 1–0 defeat. Entering the final six months of his contract in January 2015, Long stated that he hoped to earn a new deal with his performances on loan away from Goodison Park. He turned down a new deal after the 2014–15 season and departed Everton on 28 July 2015.
Chris Long (born June 6, 1968) is a college basketball coach. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1991 with a degree in advertising and from Alcorn State University in 1997 with a masters degree in school administration. Long served as the head girl's basketball coach at Vicksburg High School from 1997–1999 while compiling a 46–19 record. He then became an assistant women's basketball coach under Leon Barmore and Kurt Budke at Louisiana Tech University. Long was named head coach of the Lady Techsters in 2005 and served in that position until he was fired during the 2008–09 season. He then took a men's basketball assistant coaching position under Mike Davis at UAB. In 2010, he got back to women's college basketball at Clemson University to serve as an assistant for Itoro Coleman.
