No moderate Islam, and not many moderate Muslims

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

How many Muslims are moderate? In the recent Iraq election, moderates gained, just barely, a plurality. Not a majority, a plurality. To govern, they will need the support of some violently immoderate people. They have a plurality because the various different kinds of extremist hate each other, splitting the extremist vote. The Obamized future

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

America was the place where the future was created.  All the world depended on America for progress. It ceased to be that place under Clinton, and things got worse under Bush.

We cannot rebuild the two towers, we no longer have a human presence in space, and the next big thing on the internet, networked money that bypasses our legacy banking system, is coming from China, and, God-help-us, Africa.

Remember that in the 1950s, we were about to settle Antarctica, (but government swiftly stepped in and saved Antarctica from the evil humans) and that back then we expected that in the year 2000 we would have jet packs, widespread private plane ownership, and lunar colonies.

Here is what Obama plans for you to be driving in a decade or two:

your future in 2029

Planned range, 25 miles, planned top speed, 25 miles per hour.  Quite a step down from jet packs. (more…)

No men on the left

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

A leftist women, who merely wants humans to return to the stone age, was publicizing her book criticizing the far left, who want to get rid of humans altogether  (They want the stone age with no killing of non human animals, an arrangement where one’s life expectancy would be measured in weeks.)  A bunch of far leftists attacked her.  They did not throw pies at her, they punched her with jalapeno pepper pie.  The people in the audience, even those nominally male, sat back and watched while a bunch of young males attacked an old woman.

Allies and enemies

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

You will observe that Obama regime is full of noisy outrage that Israel is building housing in Jerusalem, most of which will be occupied by Jews, as Israel has been doing for the past forty years, ever since it seized the rest of Jerusalem and announced that all of Jerusalem, Jerusalem undivided, was the eternal and indivisible capital of the nation of Israel.

Compare and contrast with Obama’s “quiet diplomacy” on the Iran’s nuclear program.  Continuing to build housing in all of Jerusalem, is, it seems, worse than developing nuclear weapons. (more…)

Pedestalization of women

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Roissy, in one of his many excellent political posts, asks Why Do Conservatives Sanctify Women?

The correct answer, which he misses, is that they hanker for a world in which women stayed on pedestals instead of sneaking off to bang strange males. (more…)

The boot comes down hard on the Institute of Physics

Friday, March 5th, 2010

As you doubtless know by now, the Institute of Physics gave a wonderfully politically incorrect report on Global Warming.

Predictably the boot came down on them hard.

Academia is indeed like a communist country.  They don’t shoot dissidents in Academia, but communist thought control seldom found it necessary to shoot  people.  It mostly  worked by quietly blighting the lives of troublesome people.  (more…)

Exegesis on the Institute of Physics report on the CRU emails

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

The Institute of Physics tells us.

The Institute is concerned that, unless the disclosed e-mails are proved to be forgeries or adaptations, worrying implications arise for the integrity of scientific research in this field and for the credibility of the scientific method as practised in this context.

In plainer words, climate science lacks credibility.  That climate scientists tell us we are doomed unless we repent of our sins against Gaea is not good reason to think we are doomed.

The CRU e-mails as published on the internet provide prima facie evidence of determined and co-ordinated refusals to comply with honourable scientific traditions … This extends well beyond the CRU itself – most of the e-mails were exchanged with researchers in a number of other international institutions who are also involved in the formulation of the IPCC’s conclusions on climate change.

Yes, they are condemning the entire field, not just Phil Jones, not just Hadley CRU

… proxy reconstructions are the basis for the conclusion that 20th century warming is unprecedented. Published reconstructions may represent only a part of the raw data available and may be sensitive to the choices made and the statistical techniques used. Different choices, omissions or statistical processes may lead to different conclusions. This possibility was evidently the reason behind some of the (rejected) requests for further information.

In plainer words, evidently the reason that Climate scientists refused to make their data available because if other people looked at the data, they would have concluded the climate scientists were full of $#@%. This is a reference to the alternate climate reconstructions in Steve McIntyre’s report on the CRU emails. (more…)

Natural law and natural rights

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Doc Zero attributes the modern idea of natural law to Hobbes.  This is backwards.  Hobbes originated the modern idea of facism.  It was John Locke that originated the modern idea of natural rights deriving from natural law.

Physics calls out climate science

Monday, March 1st, 2010

The institute of physics is arguably the most prestigious scientific institution.  It has told us that climate science is not scientific, that the climategate emails are big deal.

… unless the disclosed e-mails are proved to be forgeries or adaptations, worrying implications arise for the integrity of scientific research in this field and for the credibility of the scientific method as practised in this context.

Compare and contrast with the official press response, which was that there was nothing to see in the Climategate files.

Climate science cannot credibly claim to be science.
